Sometimes you don't need to teach an old dog new tricks. Sometimes the same old tricks are all you need.

How does it actually work the rectifier changes the ac to dc doesnt it its very cool nothing wrong with old technology and it does both 6 volt and 12 volt batterys that pretty cool for a really old battery charger the ray gun thats a load tester isnt it Well done for repairing the unit stuff like that gets thrown away but its a piece of history how old would it be 1930s or 1940s Something i read about 6 volt batterys was that they handled the cold weather better and didnt freeze up a bad as the 12 volt something to do with the amount of acid around the plates the reason they changed over was the 6 volt had poorer lights not as bright

I'm thinking It's earlier as in 1910 to 1920s I've found no examples like it the frame being all cast iron. The examples of chargers from the 1920s look much like modern chargers with sheet metal casings.

If you think about it if they use the same chemistry why would a 6-volt battery handle cold weather better than a 12-volt battery when the only difference between the two is the amount of cells in Ceres
@bsatoad8466
@bsatoad8466 11 дней назад
@@markdi2 maybe more cells more problems. But 6volt is a low voltage for cold weather starts and requires larger gauge wire and perfectly clean connections.

@@bsatoad8466 yes and on any battery including flooded lead acid batteries their equivalent series resistance goes up as their temperature goes down

I have a nice 1971 T120r. See it riding very fast on my channel. Owned this one since 1998

Even in this condition it would be worth £2-3thousand in the UK so if you decide to sell it keep that in mind.well worth restoration

Didn't see it on the video but did you remove and check the Crank Sludge Trap before installing the crank assembly? Very important job not to be overlooked!
@bsatoad8466
@bsatoad8466 2 года назад
yes I had the crankshaft for sometime and did it way before making these videos.

ive got a question for you , what tool did you use to get the stator off, ive got a set of whitworth long sockets and some wrenches, neither will fit on the nuts to take the stator off, like the space around the nut isnt big enough, did you have to modify the tool to get it to fit?
@bsatoad8466
@bsatoad8466 2 года назад
I actually used a 1/4 inch drive 13mm Snapon deep socket thin walled 6 point. about the only thing that fit.

Did you set the end float on the crank ?
@bsatoad8466

yes in later videos. It took more time to get it right then one might think.
