My partner is currently on a three month trek and his zoleo is not swnding his location, it worked on set up and was turned off before his walk to censerve batter, now its turned on again and it isnt sending his location to his contacts, this is a dangerous situation and no matter what i trt i cant get a hold of any zoleo associate
Question: If i purchased a second hand zoleo that had been activated by a previous owner and then deactivated, do i get the same number i come to activate it or can i ask for a new number upon activating it again?
say I purchased basic plan that allows 25 messages to be sent. are incoming messages count? are messages over cell service count? where can I see how many messages are left before I get to be charged extra?
Hey Vital, when you are out of cellular and wifi coverage, any message that is incoming / outgoing will count as they use the satellite network. However, users have the ability to send unlimited check in messages over Satellite! When you are within cellular coverage or in an area that has wifi - the ZOLEO will automatically use those networks instead. Messages sent over Cellular or Wifi network do not count against your plan. Users will receive alerts at 50% and at 100% on the Basic plan when they reach that usage threshold. Hope that helps!
Pretty good video. Suggestion, it would be a lot easier to follow if you had some arrows pointing to the section of the screen you are referring to. It was very difficult for me to follow along knowing where you were tapping on your phone screen to make something happen..
Hey Jeff, can you please contact our Technical Support team at your convenience. They will be more than happy to assist you and troubleshoot this for you! www.zoleo.com/contact-us
I still cant understand process of Connecting Zoleo to phone. Its not auto connecting and Info here isn't clear at all. Can someone share Video with how to connect first time? (Not only screenshot - with the way they do)
I put the Zoleo app in my wife’s iPad so she could use it instead of her phone but there’s no phone # with the iPad only WiFi. Is there a work around for that ? Maybe just dump the app and use Email?.
Hey Dusty Roads, you can register the app on the iPad using her mobile number. The authorization code will be sent to her phone and you or her can simply type the authorization code into the iPad to complete the app sign up process. Let us know if you have anymore questions!
Not a very good overview as you didn't differentiate it from the other (similar) products out there! Why is it different? With what you highlighted, it's no different, not superior and therefore not worth it!! Compare it to the competition!!
Thanks for your feedback. Backcountry Exposure recently reviewed ZOLEO and may answer a lot of your questions: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b-TwxhFIyaQ.html.
Few questions : The sat comm component is of course self explanatory but are the sms and email message via cell phone and or wi-fi only avaiilable when slaved to a cell phone or other device through bluetooth or does it have its own antennas internally? I ask as can see the benefit of check in's for example using the lesser method but then one would need have a cell phone not only on but also with bluetooth as well using even more battery. I was on your site and noticed the comms are listed unlimited for cell and wifi but then state one must be responsible independently for all fees for usage so figured this must be the method. As far as independent capability those would be SOS and check in only correct? Can it indicate messages incoming on its own through led? thus allowing keep cell phone off until had such message vs having to maintain cell phone usage and or battery life even if checking at predetermined intervals. I ask these questions to determine how much a cell phone is needed to garner most usage from this device as my last trip required some well orchestrated battery usage planning . thanks and seems like could have some aspects that are quite different from competitors
Thanks for your questions. ZOLEO is designed to work with your phone or tablet, extending your messaging coverage to everywhere on Earth by transmitting messages over the Iridium satellite network when you’re beyond mobile coverage zones, and via cellular or Wi-Fi when available. The ZOLEO plans include satellite messages. Cellular and Wi-Fi messages consume data similar to other messaging applications. You are responsible for these data costs; they’re not included in your ZOLEO monthly plan. The LEDs will indicate when you have a message. Here's an LED guide: support.zoleo.com/kb/articles/zoleo-led-indicator-guide.
I have been comparing this unit to inReach. On so many levels I would prefer Zoleo for it's simplicity and cost but there's one critical shortcoming: The weather feature is inadequate for mariners and paddlers. It does not provide a wind speed and direction forecast beyond the current day. I need to know what to expect on the water well in advance. Garmin went to town on weather options. Zoleo needs to tool up. If real estate on the display screen is an issue I would advise Zoleo to substitute the wind data for sunrise and sunset times. The latter are not weather data, can be researched before and expedition, and do not require a forecast. The weather shortcoming is a showstopper for me. Zoleo is new and will hopefully adjust quickly.
You will have a marine channel on your radio which will always be more accurate to the exact location you will be in. So the weather function has been fine for me, as you will never get the precise location to where you are and that weather especially coast wise!
