Weirdly i feel like your video is right on time, iwtv is just starting its ascent to peak vitality imo. I’ve been watching since season 1 episode 1 but most of hype i saw online was coming from a midsize but mighty fandom on tumblr and somewhat on twitter.
thank you for making this ❤ I saw the 1994 film as an (undiagnosed autistic, ~10yo or less) kid who was already obsessed with vampires and writing stories about them. after that, the original Vampire Chronicles book trilogy was absolutely foundational for me as a lover and writer of horror. that part of me is dying to watch this clearly well-made show full of sweaty queer representation. but as a transmasc survivor of domestic violence, I normally avoid shows for much less than the DV I know is very much present at least in S1. so while I try to decide whether this show is likely to trigger/help me cathart/both, I am living vicariously through cast interviews and video essays like yours!
The whole Twilight section frankly made me feel so vindicated, because I seriously cannot fathom or understand this bizarre "reclamation" and nostalgia for Twilight that has been happening. Anti-Twilight tangent aside, yes to all of this video. All of it, the outfits, the topics discussed and overall conclusions.

1:14:31 - Superstrength, at least, has been a part of vampire lore since the original Dracula novel; I am certain that Dracula was noted as having lifted heavy boxes of dirt with remarkable ease that multiple humans together had been struggling to move. I do not currently recall if Dracula also had superspeed or not, but he might have been noted once or twice as having moved from one place to another very quickly too(I would need to reread to recall for sure). Lol But both have very definitely been a part of typical/popular vampire lore for sure ever since Anne Rice's _Vampire Chronicles_ if not even earlier than that. I could list so many other things before Twilight in which vampires have both superspeed and superstrength, among many other things.😁😁
I love to hear them talk Tale of the Body Thief before they've even got to so much as the start of TVL and QotD. Not only implies a lot of commitment to seeing the show run for as long as they can keep it going, but also that they take the source material very seriously. Especially looking forward to their future casting decisions since their casting so far has been an absolute dream.
i absolutely loved the show, however i felt claudia's assault was particularly unnecessary and disrespectful especially the way louis didn't let the reporter read her diary entry about it he literally robbed her of her ability to speak on her trauma and life experience but also what i love about the show is how everyone is allowed to do things that are wrong (far too rare in modern television) i still would like to see claudia's own perspective on events at some point

17:05 - Personally, I actually saw this act as Dacyana[?] after having drank Claudia's blood (and those also most likely having seen at least glimpses into Claudia's mind/memories) and taking away the one thing that right then Claudia cared the most about and would hurt Claudia as much as Claudia killing the revenant had hurt Dacyana....Claudia's hope for sane/pleasant/good/positive vampire companionship outside of just Louis/Lestat.😅 But maybe that was just me? 🤷🤷♀️🤷🏻♂️😁😊
9:27 - I mean, the first book does conclude the interview basically with Louis confessing in the end that he loved Lestat and always had, despite everything. 36:24 - I mean, there is a part in the book after Claudia is first transformed that says that Louis and Lestat "fought as [they] never had before" and concluded with Louis staring up at Lestat from the ground, as Lestat called Louis a fool. And there are OTHER characters in other books that Lestat has either pursued for days and days and days (similary to how he courts Louis in the tv show) _or_ beaten to a pulpy near-death despite having been making out with that character like mere moments before that-nevermind what Lestat, as a human, said he wished he could do to his brothers and father that one time Lestat was in a rage after he was belittled and doubted after the incident with the wolves. So... it's not that difficult to extrapolate, an outburst like that actually isn't as totally impossibly outside of book Lestat's characterization as some fans seem to believe. Just because Louis stood up to Lestat in the books did not mean that they were evenly matched or that Louis actually could have seriously harmed Lestat at all if Lestat had ever seriously unleashed on Louis without deliberately wanting to hold himself back and not harm Louis-a fledgling always being weaker than their maker is canon, although a younger vampire is not always weaker than an older vampire than them especially one who is not their own maker if that other older vampire was transformed by a less powerful maker or if the younger vampire has drank the blood of an even older or even more powerful vampire than that older vampire they are fighting against. The TV series, especially from what is shown in Season 2, is holding pretty much perfectly in line with that.
"The Original"....... What? Chopped up movie version you mean? The telling of the story of the lives, and deaths in some cases, of the characters was told in the 1994 movie. But the emotion was not there. Just Louis having "regrets". Louis connection to Lestat and Armand are almost non-existent. Again, the story was told. Like it was coming from a history book. The real story of these characters is show in all its glory on the AMC Series.
I doubt you'll notice this comment, but I just wanted to post this for those in the future when you get huge on the platform. I love your videos on Interview With the Vampire. I enjoy hearing your thoughts on the series, I don't see many youtubers talk about IWTV. I'd like to think over time more people will discover the series and the fandom will grow (and hopefully not overwhelm current fans). I'm more concerned with the series just not getting prematurely cancelled like Hannibal. I love this series and I have never been more excited or happy to be part of a fandom like this one. Also, I was at ComicCon and I lost my mind at the preview for season 3. I fully trust Rollin and Mark and their decisions with the series. I'm very excited to see where the series goes.
honestly you should, rereading the book with the show in mind was so fun cause it gave me a baseline for comparison which led to noticing more details and how they influence the dynamics and the story overall!

I read the books watch the original movie and every time I try to watch the new interview with the vampire. It just makes me think of how much better and darker and Gothic the original book and movie was they go all over Europe in the world Kirsten Dunst play better, the show just sucks it hurts
