Instead of a standard reflect Videl has a dodge move that has invincibility. He dodged the goku beam, the concept is kinda the same as doing a reflect into punish but it made 16 cross up which is interesting. My intuition is that a standard reflect wouldnt have worked to punish that scenario but Videl's dodge did. Pretty impressive by Chris now that I think about it
@@omegatomhanksfgc I thought the 16player made it crossup. I slowed the video down and saw exactly what you said. That shit is crazy. I'm not a huge fan of videls dodge, it's not the better than reflect at times, but shit like this could have been catastrophic if 16s active frames hit him after the Dodge lol. Thanks for explaining my man!!
They streamed literally every other game at Evo, but not USF4? Feel like they robbed Smug his shine on a real win here. I hope this doesn't happen next year, people want to watch
hey Ivan N, where/how did you guys organize? was the whole thing recorded or streamed somewhere? I would have loved to watch this instead of SFV but didn't know about it. Thanks!
This was very last minute, organized literally the week before Evo. There was a 128 person bracket of preregistrants that filled up in 2 days, of those, around 110 were put into the bracket. It was too late to get on the official Evo stream. I would have applied for a stream spot myself, but I didn't know I was going to be able to go to Evo myself until a couple weeks before the event when the schedule was already finalized. So in the end there was no stream because no one had the equipment to do an unofficial one. I was going to record more matches than just the GF, but to be completely honest I was too burnt out from calling matches and updating brackets for 5+ hours and just wanted to chill. Next time it might be a good idea to hit the share button after each match, that way at the very least it's saved somewhere. Next year, there will definitely be another side tournament and hopefully a stream as well. If you are going to CEOtaku this year, I'm helping to run USF4 there with a friend of mine as a side event. Thanks for supporting this game!
Thanks for the upload. Anyone else dissapointed that Usf4 gets this kind of treatment in Evo? Hell, Poongko and Smuggles going at it and its played on some 22 inch screen with 3 people watching.. It deserves so much more!
The remaining USF4 tourney scene is community run at this point. In that sense you can't really blame Evo for not setting aside stream time for it unless there is a push from the community itself. USF4 got a stream at CEO/Combo Breaker/NCR and several other majors this year, but I'll be honest it was a very last-minute effort at Evo this year. However, I'm glad it happened. The bracket preregistration filled and there was a waiting list in 2 days, people really do want to play this game competitively. It was a fun tournament to participate in, and that's all I really care for personally. USF4 is my favorite game and I'm always able to find people to play against at every tournament I go to.
