Hey, y'all, welcome to The Sea Y'all Life! We are Tom and Andrea, a couple of Texas transplants living life to the fullest. For us, that's living part time with our two boat dogs aboard our 44-foot DeFever Trawler in San Diego, California. Our hope is that, as you join us on our dreams and adventures, we’ll inspire you to discover your own!
DO NOT buy it no sales price listed means they are selling a lemon please call for price it’s a scam why not put listing price in ad in writing oh boy someone’s up to no good Lucy
For where you live I think that seems very affordable. I am hoping to get a boat and do the great loop in the next year or two. Budgeting for about $60k for the year after buying a boat outright (cash). This helps in figuring.
Dreaming about living on the water. So nice to see real people doing it and helping others understand what it takes to make it happen. Enjoying your channel.
We are about to acquire a 1987 44OC. Fortunately this is a freshwater boat and the hull was painted last year (2023) which makes the inspection of the hull very straightforward. One question about your haul out regarding the the rudder seals. Did you have them inspected and if so, how often should they be replaced?
I would add to run those diesels under load, not just idle. In the fire service, our diesel engines have a ton of idle time and that increases maintenance issues. Totally agree, run those engines persistently.
Yo, I’ve a defever 44 in Spain and my uk mechanic can’t seem to get power to helm - he says :Is there a switch I’m missing to get power to the dashboard? Any suggestions ? Cheers ?
I stumble into your video by accident. Really nice. We used to be a Cabrillo Marina. We are currently at Coral Marina in Ensenada. If you like wine and great food come down the first week of July for the wine and food festival. Best in the world. There are several boats that come from SD and Newport. Coral Marina is great and safe. Cheers!! Jose and Martha M/V Pilar 1979 Hatteras 60
Hello! How are you? I've seen two your videos. Like the monthly expense you did. Very encouraging. I live in the lower desert. I used live in Oceanside. Really miss he coast like life. I hope to get a motor yacht by the end of the year. I wanted to know is what marina in San Diego you live in? The location and scenery looks very nice.
This is crazy for people to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars on a depreciating money pit that is a boat. A $1M boat could lose half its value in 5 years vs a house that could increase in value by 50% in 5 years. I became a millionaire by investing in appreciating assets over years and I did not waste my money buying a boat. I bought an old 3bed and 2bath single family house in San Jose California for 800K in 2019. Now it is worth $1.4M and interest rates are at 7%! Unless you guys are already very wealthy, it is all fun and games until reality hits. The boating industry is always looking for suckers to buy their overprice products. There is the old saying that the happiest day for a boat owner is the day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat.
That’s why we spent $170,000 instead of hundreds of thousands much less a millions on our boat and we absolutely love living on the water. We also own a beautiful house in Texas that’s generating monthly income for us while we live our dream on our amazing but modest boat.😊
@@TheSeaYallLife That is great that you still own your house. Do not sell it. A lot of youtubers out there going crazy selling their entire homes to go and live on a boat. Doing that is just foolish and crazy.
The panic button. 😁 It looks like the boat was converted to single lever electronic throttle and shift controls and there was a cover plate made for the levers that were removed. Someone with a sense of humor decorated that plate. 👍

I think that you jinxed the Whaler by complimenting it so much! On the upside I think that the ass over elbows incident makes a great Olukai flip flop spot! sponsorship opportunity?
Good for you guys enjoy I just retired from Arizona from construction now I am thinking on getting in on a boat to live on I want to fix one up sinch I have a construction remodeling houses yes I know boats are different but I want to learn now I'm living here in San Deigo wanted to be closer to my daughter and her family I have never done anything like this before but I am Looking
So many thoughts and ideas of how we can do things differenty in our lives. You continue to be an inspiration for us. I feel like I get messages to take a leap in some direction on a continuous basis. This is another message. I hope you two are well and happy. It looks like you definitely are!!!
Hello, I happened to find your channel by researching on how to live in a boat (planning to buy one by 2026). It will be my first time, I've never lived in a boat but my husband did own one years ago. I am excited and anxious to really jump on this chance...we do not have kids, just a fur baby, Sasha and skittish newly adopted kitten, Blue. Thanks for a wonderful video!
Yikes. It is way more than I thought lots of upkeep. Apt would be about the same price and there would be no maintenance. I would love to live in a boat for a year though.
That wasn’t an accident. You got set up. They knew you would buy a bigger boat if you were out in a little boat at that time. It’s an illness without a cure!! 😂😂 Thanks for the story. 😊
