Beautiful rod, but those aren't made by G Loomis. Edge rods is owned by North fork composites. Which is owned by Gary Loomis himself not shimano like G Loomis is.
I normally do, but I messed up on my measuring that time, but I figured I would leave it in the video so I could get the basic concept out, and it was on a test piece anyway. Just a way to show we all make mistakes every now and then 😁
The U-40 is what I used, but, I'm going to switch to Min-Wax urethane matt finish - or - the semi-gloss. Friends have used it and get very nice results. It DOES make the cork pop, though.
If I may ask, what materials are you using to do this? I'm quite taken with your results. Not only is your art good but you have to adapt to the narrow and round of the rod's surface. Well done!
Thank You 🎣 Right now I am getting clips together on how I put these images on the rods and the supplies I use. You will be surprised at how easy it actually is, stay tuned for our upcoming video
Makes a difference. We cant get U 40 products Down Under any more, i do not know why. Can't even import it 😒😒 ? What did you do in the split grip, looks great
I've cut all of mine in half, cut a 100mm piece of 12mm dowl drilled a hole in one end and used 5 minute epoxy to keep it in place. So much more comfortable too use...
I’ve tried that before, but if the blank had the slightest of curve in it, it wouldn’t line up for me, but it was helpful otherwise. Thank You for watching our videos🎣
Ron did a great job on this years ago. The front half is what we call the dirty part where we sand and do grips, no A/C, the back half has A/C and Heat and it’s the clean part for the builds and finish work.
Actually it’s a 10 rod build for one of our customers. It’s the one and only tournament we build for each year, he lets us customize them with only one requirement, that they have Microwave Guides on them. Check out our playlist on the Riley Memorial Rods. This is year 10 for us of the 40 years of this tournament. I have big plans for these this year, stay tuned 🎣
Interesting to say the least, don't think it'll work in the hot Ozzy summer. The tape adhesive would get pretty sticky in no time. Can see how it'll work in some climates
No, they are very reasonable and true quality. I’ve had that bass decal for a long time, I was saving it for some reason. I got it from Decal Connection, not sure they have that particular one but I think they do still have other fish decals, you have to give them a call. The link is in the description.
I'm in New Zealand and finding it very hard to find somewhere to get decals made, also prices here in New Zealand are so high for anything to do with rod building... Looking forward to the next video...
Great video. I believe mud hole makes a decal roller. That’s very helpful. I’m looking forward to the video on how you did the marbling around the fish that’s very nice. I like it. Beautiful Work. Thanks for sharing.
That’s nice work. I’ve been wanting to order some microwave guides no one seems to know much or use them. I like the idea and run braid on so many near shore reels. If anyone has used them are they superior to the norm?
I can honestly say they are definitely superior. If you google American Tackle MicroWave Guides you’ll find lots of anglers with great experiences with them. You get further casts, more accuracy and less effort in casting. I’ve personally experienced all of these with these guides
Very nice looking rod I have never tried to do a guide wrap like that on a casting rod I can see the benefits of having the guide at the tip 180. Cool ty🐟🎣🤙
Yes, exactly. We’ve built a few like that. It was originally done on heavier salt rods from what I understand and the idea made its way to light salt and freshwater rods.
