I’ve noticed that sometimes M&M make small mistakes when playing but to me that’s irrelevant because it shows that they’re actually playing and not doing playback. At that speed I’m really amazed they don’t make more mistakes. It’s not unusual that musicians and singers make small mistakes when they’re actually performing live.

I like that!!! ❤️🤘 And yes, I'm sure there are small errors here and there in most live music, but we just don't notice it, cause we're occupied with enjoying the musicianship, the artistry and all the fun. To be honest, I didn't notice it myself, until I edited the video and listened to each part of the song many times.

Yes, Midori "missed" a note in the tapping process. Or more exactly the string did'nt respond correctly when she pressed down the finger on the string. I forgot to mention...they sometimes use fire and sometimes smoke, depending on the song, venue, budget.
I'm no guitarist myseld, tried learning, but quickly found out it would be too much for me. And yeah, I suppose you have to be pretty exact in this technique, and it's easy to miss a fret and have the string misbehave. It's just impressive the things they are able to do on a guitar.
I did not intend this comment to be a criticism of Midori in any way. It was an honest question of mine, and sadly, it came out the wrong way. I'm crazy impressed with Midori and any other guitarists who can play at this level, and I'm surprised you don't hear more of these "errors". And I'm glad they let it be in there because I'm 100% sure the band heard it. But instead of overdubbing it, they let it stay in and showed that mistakes might happen and that it's not necessary to hide them. That they let minor imperfections stand without hiding them makes me love them even more. And if this is the ONLY thing I can criticise about this performance, it shows how great it is. *** At about 5:44 out in the video, did Midori make a small mistake in the solo? Seems like she might have missed one of the taps. What do you think? Not that I'm complaining, and to me it seems very hard to do it, so I'm impressed no matter what.

I'll unpin it, because I don't want to leave the impression that I tried to put down Midori in any way and that's the main thing I got out of this performance. But I also won't remove it, because I said what I said. And I have to stand by that. I'll edit it a little though, to emphasise that it's NOT meant as a criticism, and like Kent said in another comment, Midori probably hit the note, but the string didn't respond in the normal way it should have.

The story of this video is rather odd. The first time I saw it it was combined with the previous song from the concert, "Freedom". In this concert Saiki went crowd surfing near the end of Freedom and got lost for a moment. Two of the crewmen had to rescue her. No harm done, but Miku had to sing the last two lines and Saiki lost her shoes. She was in her stocking feet when Real Existence started. MISA came over to tease her about being barefoot. She plays that way all the time.

The lyrics of this song mean something like "Don't put me in the same category as the girls in the game!". Miku Kobato is rhythm guitarist, band founder, and main lyricist. Her lyrics sound simple at first glance, but they have a double structure. I think her lyrics have multiple meanings at the same time. They always contain chaos. For example, the double meanings in these lyrics use similar pronunciations in Japanese and English. What can i I?:WA-KAN-NAI (I can't understand in Japanese) If you put these together, it means "I don't know what I can do.".
I will 100% go more into the lyrics on more BAND-MAID reactions. As you say, they seem to have deeper meanings. Which is fun, cause there might not be any right or wrong, and people can find meaning from their own experiences and points of view. I LOVED that "Wa-kan-ai?" at the end there. Miku could have told me to do anything at that point, and I would. I sadly don't know Japanese either, but I understood from the subtitles, that there were more to it, than she just singing "What can I?" Hopefully I will get more into Duolingo and learn some Japanese this winter. I tried it earlier this year, but I quickly came to realize, that I couldn't just go through the lessons there. You have to work with learning hiragana, katakana and kanji. Learn how to write it properly and go for it.

There are many unique aspects to Real Existence that sets it apart from many rock songs: the starts and stops; Miku's little breakout vocal line; MISA's unique high-neck "fugue" during (in this performance) a homage dance with Saiki, both in black dress and shoeless; Akane's double tempo gallop; and Kanami's solo. I mean, who would ever put that kind of solo in a rock song? But it works... just like all of the plot-twists, complex density, and genre-merging they employ on most of their material. Every section offers something different than the previous one. That's one reason many people -- unless you're a musician - may find it difficult to get into their music at first listen. As tightly integrated as it is, there's so much going on. And then you add the Japanese language and maid outfits... But for people who like and appreciate their writing, musicianship, performance and personalities, Band-Maid's beautiful cacophony of excellence offers unlimited rewards for repeat listening... and mega stardom for the Maids, imxo. I absolutely LOVED Miku's vocals here. The "Wa kan ai?" at about 3 minutes long, made me instantly fall in love with her. But as you say, when you notice it, there's small instances of it dotted throughout the song. I think we can agree that they have succeeded. It's been 11 years(?) now. That's a long time. You will be very surprised when you hear my "musical background" :) During the 90's and 2000's I ran around to raves, listen to tons of different house and were mostly into electronic music. But what I've seen that many of my friends that I ran with at that time, listen to SO many kinds of music. I think it is because house music took inspiration and incorporated themes from every kind of genre there is. I like to say that I listen to all kinds of music, as long as it's good. And BAND-MAID is SO GOOD!

The thing to notice about that Kanami solo is how 100% locked-in the band is with it. In other words the solo is not some guitarist out there doing her own thing. The band rehearsed every single note of that, and even the breaks into it and out of it, all four instruments. That is so rare, making it feel somehow like the lead guitar is on her own in space, but really she's as anchored as a ship in harbor.
So true! Enabling the guitarist to show off, but at the same time keeping it all together and in control. And like you said, it feels like a pretty free solo.
Do you know why Saiki is barefoot on stage? Because during the previous song "Freedom" she jumped into the crowd of spectators and came back without shoes. Miku had to finish singing "Freedom" alone.
Saiki didn't jump into the crowd. The film crew wanted interaction with the crowd, so they had her too far forward at the edge of the stage. They had one of the stage-hands holding her from behind and he lost her into the crowd. She got about two seconds of crowd surfing, before security retrieved her. Her shoes became a souvenir.

@@FranksReactions Correct, Miku Kobato is the Little Pigeon. Her Kanji 小鳩 (Kobato) translate to "small pigeon". "Hato" (鳩) which is what translate to pigeon/dove, can also be conceived as 8-10. So she has taken on the persona of a 810 yr old small pigeon. PO!🕊
The usual concert (or "serving" as the maids call them) are 2+ hours long. no support bands, no encores (the crowd shouting for an encore are seen as rude in Japan).
Well, can't complain about that. 2 hours is a pretty long concert time. Interesting about the encore. Just show that culture varies so much around the world, and I have SO much to learn. Hopefully I'll one day get to go to Japan and attend some concerts with some of my favorite bands.

Also, it should be mentioned that Miku Kobato is Band-Maid's master lyrist who writes most of the words to their songs. She is able to skillfully combine her native Japanese with English and keeps a notebook to write down unusual or interesting English words and phrases that she encounters to perhaps include into their songs. It is not easy to combine the two as the two languages are very unrelated and a single word or two in Japanese can have many different meanings according to context which is why direct translations can be so confusing at times. From early on, she has been the spokespigeon of the group and has done much PR work, although lately Saiki has helped a lot in that role too.

One of my favorites where they didn’t write the song. I think my favorite is The Non-Fiction Days. Alone was the first song they wrote themselves. The first album they wrote all the songs is Just Bring it, and possibly my favorite album since it has five of my top ten songs by them. Puzzle, Moratorium, YOLO, Time, Secret My Lips.

Never any problem with energy from this band, considering the complexity of some of their song- concentration is all, but they make it look so easy. They usually do c 23 songs in 2 hours, but their anniversary show last year contained 33 songs in 3+ hours.
That is wild, 33 songs in a set. That is serious value for money. I LOVE when bands really looks after and give back to their fans like that. And as you said, they doesn't seem to have problems with the energy. I guess they and the audience feed of each other in a nice symbiosis.
Yes, *REAL EXISTENCE* is a verry popular song of *BAND-MAID* based on setlist this was the 2nd most played songs at (235). The first 3 albums from *BAND-MAID* was written by writers that the record management hired. But on the last song of the 3rd album the record company allowed *BAND-MAID* to write their own song called *Alone* and it is the 3rd most played song at (215). After that *BAND-MAID* pretty much wrote all there material since then. 😊
Ohhh, that's interesting. I'll keep that in mind when I listen to more of their stuff. To see if I can feel some change in their songs before and after them taking over writing their own materiel.

I do think that it's more than him in video games. This is a virtual relationship where they only know the other's avatar, like the movie "Free Guy," except that one doesn't turn out to be an AI controlled NPC. She even refers to herself as his "virtual doll."
Asami's lyrics and certain videos reflect the Christian narrative for sure, but they also espouse Shinto, Buddhism, Hinduism, and a smattering of Judaism. Her lyrics are testimony to the human spirit and not some Idolic god. I'm glad you made that comment. Very few reactors do, yet it is a big part of Lovebites as people and musicians.
Thank you for this clarification! From what I've seen, so far, they take imagery and themes from religions, but the songs aren't necessarily religious. As you say, it's about the human spirit, which is a universal thing. And one of the reasons I started doing these reactions is because for the longest time I didn't really care about the lyrics. But lyrics have gotten more important to me. And also some bands put a lot of effort in the, and I feel LOVEBITES is one of those bands, so it would just be rude of me to not pay attention to it. That's one of the reasons why I've started to check out the lyrics before I react to a song now. I think it has the potential for me to give better commentary, and since I don't watch the video or listen to the song, it should still be a first reaction.
also if you notice the lyrics of Swan Song with Chopin Intro at Five of a kind in 2020 they used the term Those who died in Valhalla in same verse as You will rest in gods kingdom (underlined g so could mean any god) I'll never get over the first time I saw Miyako go from Piano to Guitar then back to Piano again then found out not only self taught at 19 but the book she bought was an advanced metal book can't remember which show she was talking to the host about it, she also reimagined 6 covers as Piano songs and also like Lovebites as a band covered Eagle Fly Free (Helloween) Far and Beyond the sun Yngwie Malmsteen (One of Midori's idols with Nuno Bettencourt) Her idol Gary Moore The Loner -Burn Deep Purple, Battery Metallica and Lovebites Addicted- The bands version of Eagle Fly Free was on their Live Studio remake of The Awakening from the Abyss (1st full album) as a Bonus Track. the only other song Lovebites as a whole cover are Love Bites (So Do I) The bands Namesake song and Judas Priest Painkiller which they covered during Battle in the East (And also on the compilation album 2022 December Lovebites from the beginning 2017-2021 also Nameless Warrior was the new song on that album

Yes the Video that was produced under difficult conditions wherevthey head to lend their costumes from othervteachers or friends. Amuse thought zhey could stop him by blocking his budget , but... And you have zrouble when your main audience and your performers try to flee from thesame music.
@@FranksReactions Well it was a constant fight but in zhe end Amuse needed theircresults for the yearbook. He did something wirh his girls and they needed his results. So they decided when Su had to leave Sakura Gakuin Babymetal left the School with her and Amuse had the new Project Babymetal. But Babymetal was no Project for Young Idols. That was the shock in the Generation after Yui and Moa left the school. What Clubs might you be interested in: The heavy music Club. Who was asked Momoko Okazaki. No one else than Momo.
@@FranksReactions Yes and it was a Trauma for the new Management. The Babymetal members didn't really react to successes of other metals since they had more and whatever Clubs they added They all admired Babymetal. They wanted to get rid of Ken Kobayashi.
DDM is such a fun song. They don't play it live very often anymore but when they do it's always a special treat and the crowd goes off for it. They last played it live at Legend MM and I got to see it live and shout "Ima nan ji!" with everyone else.
Yeah, it's sort of a song they have grown a little out of, so quite natural that they don't play it as much anymore. But at the same time, it IS the start of the group, so I hope they will still do it from time to time, as a little tribute and stroll down memory lane.
