I understand that instead of flowers, we are to leave rocks at the gravesite. It is allowed for a family member to collect nice rocks and paint them in colors that the deceased really liked and or the deceased person’s name or initials and a short prayer that we could have the rocks available for family members to leave the special rocks at the gravesite or do they have to be plain? In addition, is it appropriate for a person close to the deceased to give a short speech about key points in the deceased live similar to a someone that feels strongly about giving a short story of the person’s life. Lastly, are we allowed to leave a letter or a book that meant a lot between the mourner and the deceased in the casket before it closes for good. I want to make a comment. You said that the Big Bang is Yesh Mi'ayin. It is the complete opposite. Yesh mi'ayin by definition means yesh mi'yesh because it falls under the idea of conservation of mass and energy. If anything, it falls in line with the idea that there is nothing new under the sun; maybe that is what you meant. Yesh mi'ayin means that there is a pre-primordial force that one cannot detect via the chain reation of cause and effect. At one point there was nothing, and then something began. What happened in between? Unknown. The Torah tells us G-d happened. And we know that G-d is unchanging, so therefore He is ,so to speak, out of the system of cause and effect and undetectable in that framework.
