Bro, I hope that you are enjoying your training! I’m the guy you spoke with at the Tulsa terminal when you missed your flight😂 You have a great trainer there and he’s the reason I got into this at my age
just hate the pay at 30 mph and no pay when the wheels aint turing worse 168hrs / bY your pay..... IT IS LESS than the federal minumum wage--- that hurts like hot scalding lemon juice on YOUR HEMORHOID.🤣
the hard part - picking up beer in colorado- 1st u overloaded- they adjust load and now you at 79980 20lbs under --- drive to the catscale 100+ miles away burn a 100lbs + fuel and you weigh in at 84,880 how the hell is that possible? other than budweiser cooking the scale t`ickets
How can we request you to train us 50 plus? What is the wait time like? I put in an app, just waiting for Monday to talk to a Melton rep. 7 plus years in trucking but I don't know anything about Skateboard driving.
I hope this young man knows and appreciates the quality mentor he was placed with. Thank you for taking an interest in our next generation. I know training pays extra but I am confident you dont just do it for the money. I have mad respect for you based on the way you talk to and treat your fellow man. Im not a truck driver, i really have no desire to drive a truck but subscribed to your channel way back because you are an inspiration to others by the way you carry yourself and treat people. Wishing you safe travels
@@nickl3872 thank you for subscribing to my channel and watching my videos, I’m really working harder to bring more consistent content, and hope to continue to share some trucking knowledge
@@nickl3872 I was a luxury car mechanic for 15 years before I became a service advisor, then shop, foreman and service Director and finally Fixed OPs Director. When I was mechanic, we made really good money and everything wasn’t covered by warranty
You are spot on! Check your lights, wipe off your reflective tape and keep your dashboard neat. If your dash is a mess then what else should I expect to find?
I asked the per diem person , why I don’t get paid per diem . She was like it’s not an extra money … it just help u save u tax at the end of year , is this true ?
You make great points Im 32 and only just now im learning that the only real struggle in life is the war to master your own mind. Both your logical thoughts & emotional values. If you can master your mind....the world is your oyster.
I was at Melton as my first ride. Recently quit trucking to drive Uber. Finished up at P&S. I actually make more money driving Uber than being a Company driver in the 757 area in Virginia. I take breaks and hit planet fitness often and I still get my numbers. 3 to $400 plus a day. I was struggling with maintaining a healthy weight out on the road even with flatbed
I'm driving Started with a commercial license 1959 Because I am a statistic Insurance companies will not allow a company hire me That is wrong If a company convert me to work
😢 the question is how old is too old before the insurance companies will not let that company how are you I'm 83 years old The rain as far as to run a wire up my arms inside my heart Could not find nothing So I passed my DOT physical I haven't had a ticket in August 7th and only worn the last 20 years Been driving a truck
Wish I had you as a trainer, my guy barely spoke any English and had to constantly call his mentor to answer questions. Didn't really seem like he knew what he's doing and I learned no tips or tricks whatsoever from him. A bit disappointed that I had a rookie try and train me. Also he never let me back the truck up at all...
@@royalmac1011 I’m glad you made it through the training and if you run into any issues, hopefully I can help you just reach out to me and email is better. 50Plustruckertalk@gmail.com.
You’d be surprised how many females come through the program and do just fine is flatbed drivers. I can’t promise that I’ll be in in your class, but keep your fingers crossed
I think trucking is calling me again. I started with Prime got my license went out on the road with a trainer and had one of the worst experience trying to learn to drive. I never pulled anything it was all new to me. Started driving buses got an okay job but still want to get out of that road. Just got an email from Melton a few days ago. I'm thinking 😂😂😂
Hey watched you almost 5...yes 5 years ago, and you helped me at another company. Will Melton hire a 5 year driver with no flat bed experience. Thanks!
Absolutely, brother! When you come aboard, you will get the training you need to become a successful flatbed driver. Remember when I came to Melton I did not have flatbed experience only dry van and refrigerated.
.52cpm with no experience. Some companies pay more but you should ask yourself if the small difference in pay is worth the craziest you could get from them.
Mr 50 thanks again for the insightful info regarding questions to ask recruiters when job hunting. Respectfully one question that i would add is if they have a training program and how long is it how long is the trainer ride along what is the pay while training. what is the hiring area for the carrier. however when i got my CDL class A and all of my endorsements plus twic card thought was going to be easy to land a job i was proven wrong. 1. catch 22 in order to get a truck driving job majority 95% times trucking companies require anywhere from 3mos - 1 year real world driving exp. 2. also depending where you live is also going to be a factor in getting a truck driving job also. example i live in south east Florida I'm finding out that a lot of carriers don't hire this far south east in Florida like Fort Lauderdale and the ones that do hire require experience or they are 1099 or dont offer insurance. so its slim pickings for someone that has just recently graduated from truck driving school 3. I think its important that when you are a new graduate class A CDL and no experience get any trucking job that you can for at least for the first 6 months to a year after that you have more choices to choose from or you can stay where your at. good tip reach out to local truck driving schools or the same state that you live in, ask them if they are supported by any carriers or carriers they would recommend for new grads. thanks again keep on truckin and stay safe out there.
Students remember to leave enough room in front to get in front of trailer. It doesn't matter how many times you have to pull forward. Better to be safe than sorry.
