Do any of the XJ's have a manual switch for the electric radiator fan? Is it helpful ? I added one recently just in case, although i avoid traveling with my xj if temps are above 90.
Thank for the tour, and explanation. I have a 1998 Grand cherokee Laredo with the 4.0. I imagine that the same components will fit mine? How many inches of lift, and the kit name? Although I probably will not get extreme rock sliders because I don't expect to do Hell Hole or similar. (Did that on my Honda Trail 90, 50 years ago.) Your group would enjoy attempting Fordyce Lake, back behind Jackson Meadow Reservoir. And beyond that, White Rock Lake.
Did you lunch in Lee Vinning? Mono Cone? Whoa Nellie Deli? Nicely's? Mono Pizza? Did you visit the Upside Down house in Lee Vinning? Have you been to the old resort above Lee Vinning on Log Cabin Road? Have you been the back road to Gibbs Lake, Kidney Lake, immediately south and west of the 120/395 intersection? Fun to watch your jeeps. I need to prepare my ZJ for similar side trips.
I don’t believe you are supposed to drive on that ridge like that..like you mentioned the flowers struggle to survive..Eastern sierras are a bit more pristine than the west side.let’s keep it that way!
We we drive on trails not off trails and flowers grow where they want! Enjoy the open trails before they are closed and you are stuck looking at AI images of outdoors from your home in a 15 minute city
The Panum crater just on the south side of Mono Lake off of HWY 128. A ton of OHV trails. Volcanic ash. Like fine, sifted flour. Looks like a Japanese Bonsai garden when you drive by. Bottomless. You just want to drive out and do donuts in it.. Being so stuck, solo. I learned my lesson. Made it back out to the pavement, on my own.
Eastern California/Nevada really isn't the desert. So many mountain ranges. The valleys get dry and hot but 20 miles away and up in altitude the weather can be great! Maybe the high desert. Even the lower altitudes down in the valleys is around 3000 ft. Coyote Flats is up at 10,000/11,000 feet. Kirkwood ski resort has the highest altitude in California. 9800 ft at the top.
The thing about the eastern Sierras is they just are there in front of you. This huge wall. Driving up from Sacto, its so gradual. You're climbing up but it doesn't even feel like you are climbing until you get to the top.
I usually don't watch video after video of the same crew but I watched one after another and enjoyed all of them. Voss, I really like the way you lead and do so many repairs when needed. I have no doubt that if you weren't there for some of your pack, they would have never conquered some of those obstacles. I always have been a lover of the Eastern Sierra and what beautiful scenery. there is. Keep up the great work and thanks for the entertainment.
Great video and series!! When will you do a fan run again? Been a subscriber from the start and love the content. I am also based in Nor Cal area and love watching your videos to see different places and trails close to home.
I have a great business to run for my day job so no I’m not looking for cheesy ass sponsors that offer garbage and want you to push their garbage to others. I will only do few reviews of here and there of the product I’m using and I’m keeping it on my vehicles, not trying to push on anybody.
@@4WDAdventureCrew I thank you for that! We have enough ads chipping away our time! I myself have a ZJ so I kept my eyes on your episodes especially when there's a ZJ in it.
Vas, great content as always. As TJ owners we’ve considered getting an XJ also, for better cargo room and the 4 doors. How has maintenance been on everyone’s XJ’s? We had a 1992 XJ a long time ago and overall it was fine, reliability-wise, but how about nowadays? Xj’s with high miles, reasonable to maintain? Do y’all drive to the trailhead or trailer? Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work - Brian
Thank you for watching Brian, most of our XJ’s had extensive work done on them for capability axles lockers wheels and tires. But mechanically, it’s a different story. Most of us bought our jeeps for dirt cheap because they had mechanical problems white Jeep. I replaced a few motors on it because they were junk now I have a great fresh new motor in it and it’s been perfect for very long time coming up on two years where I did not do anything, except replace few sensors here and there. Black one we built a new motor for it and it’s been great ever cents coming up on two years. So after you fix the major problems with these, they tend to run no problem. We still run OEM transmissions, and transfer cases. Red one we did all the upgrades to the axles wheels and suspension, but it does have motor problems where it runs at low oil pressure and it takes a bunch of coolant so we are getting ready to replace some motor on it as well. With all these jeeps being over 200,000 miles they do have some problems, but if you are not afraid of replacing the major things, they will run pretty good in the long run after that. I hope that help you.
@@4WDAdventureCrew thank you so much for the great reply. Amazing machines (we Loved ours when we had it) - just want to be realistic with our expectations. Very helpful. Have a great night!
That is what is so nice about the Sierras this time of year. 20/30/50 degrees cooler up in the mountains than down in the Valley. It has been a hot summer so far. I was up in the Plumas Ntl forest this year back in June. An hour north of Truckee. Just into Gold Lake/solo to camp and fish for a couple of days.
