It’s my hope that everyone who watches this channel will walk away excited to get out there and have some fun! I plan to share short to mid length content, that doesn’t belabor unnecessary boring things that nobody cares about. I don’t want to waste your time with a 45 minute video that turns out to be an unsuccessful hunt! I try to stay straight to the point, and keep the videos moving along at a good pace. I hope they hold your attention and are not only entertaining, but also inspiring… because in the end, that’s what it’s all about. Good luck out there!
That was a great video, Caleb! Congratulations my friend! I am the artist that is offering one of my pieces of artwork to all hunters and fisherman. Bear Country Lodge & Guide Service I have entered your photo to my contest, which means you could win of my pieces of artwork valued at $200, and that would include shipping it to your place. I wish you the best of luck, and I subscribe to your channel to watch other great videos. George Hachey GH Artwork
The ground was actually not frozen where I put the tent, so the stakes went in easy. I’ve heard the Xmid comes with cheesy stakes, but they actually seemed fairly rugged imo!
Real hunters don't kill animals they are not hunting. If there is a season for porcupines I'm not aware of it. Get your practice on a target. This is not something I can agree with. Sorry buddy.
Hey, thank you for watching! Most of my life I’ve been a sitter, and I’ve just recently gotten into tracking. Buck down in Vermont…video will be coming out at some point!
@@caleblenher I love watching you big wood hunters. The NE is awesome. Take care and looking forward to watching the Vermont video. Love the lever action👍🏻
Thanks! I actually had the hat on when I left the truck, but it was way too warm for the hike. That’s why I ended up wearing that weird headband. My late grandfather bought that hat for me at Cabela’s when I was 4 years old. I wear it every year
An illegal deer? Deer are neither legal nor illegal! The laws are for the hunter, making what “he/she” does legal or not…..As in the hunter illegally takes a deer, rather than the hunter takes an illegal deer.
Nice just to be in the big woods, wish I was 20 years younger can't go as far as I used to, enjoy it now next time if you could show more of your tent set up, I have the big horn myself, great tent
Hi Caleb, I noticed that you wear blue once and a while. I was told by a deer biologist that deer see blue better that any other color. There's many factors to take into consideration while deer hunting and you seem to be doing just fine, but I hope this info helps you maybe get a split second advantage on a nice buck!
I’ve actually had a couple people tell me that. Honestly, I didn’t know about it until recently, so I do plan on updating some of my gear next season. Thank you for your interest in the channel...Stay tuned!
Honestly, I don’t do a lot of small game hunting with a bow. If I did, I would definitely come up with a better setup. But yeah I’ve lost a couple arrows over the year🤣
That has got to be one of my favorite videos I have ever watched. Your attitude ,thoughts Etc. Just an all around great hunt. The beautiful buck is the icing. Great job congrats.
Great video and a nice harvest, after learning any drag is far better downhill we make efforts to hunt high and park low, wear little and bring an extra coat if need be but making the deer do the work helps if it's possible. I love the tracking videos and do appreciate the work involved.
I forgot to say in my last comment that you might want to throw a light weight sling or short piece of rope in your pack to be able to put your rifle on your back on the drag out. It makes dragging so much easier. Just a suggestion. I always have had a sling on my guns and crossbow but really should start putting it in my pack only for the drag or long walk out a night. Have had many close shots and having that sling dangling down just ands more movement and an object for the deer to see. And as Taylor Elmer points out in one of his videos, it forces you to have your gun in your hand at all times rather than on your shoulder when split seconds count the most.
Yeah, I definitely agree with Taylor on that one. However, as you suggested it certainly may be a good idea to keep on in my pack. What i did with the 2 bucks I tracked this year, was take my pack and rifle up ahead about 50 yards, than go back and drag the deer up. Sorta leapfrogging as I went. Worked pretty good
Another great video Caleb. Really enjoyed the “after the shot” video with finding the deer, dressing it out and heating up lunch along with the drag out and loading it onto the roof and driving away. I will be Sharing at least one of your video with friends that I know will enjoy them and Subscribe. …Alan from SE NH
Congratulations on a nice buck and awesome job with the video getting the buck on camera and after the shot. Would have liked to see more video with the river crossing ( unless you followed the river to the road and that’s why you had to walk back to your truck) and loading it into the truck. Would really like to see the video of your VT buck soon. Why would you wait a year to post it? I hit the Like and subscribe buttons and will watch your Maine hunt and others that you might have.
If it was earlier in the season I’d definitely post it, but I plan on releasing it beginning of next rifle season. Still have to get it edited. I’ve also got a 9point bow kill from Pennsylvania I’ll release this coming season as well
Congrats on a great hunt and a dandy buck, I wish more people would rest their guns against a tree when dealing with the pics and checking their game out. Muzzle control can't be stressed enough. My hunter safety instructor accidentally shot and killed himself while reaching for his " empty" shotgun across the backseat, pulling the gun by the barrel. It wasn't empty and the trigger caught on some stuff he had on the backseat, discharging it into his chest.
