Did you have to service it? I just got this exact model from eBay. It works but I’m sure it needs cleaning but I’m scared to try it (I’m technologically inept)
If it's working just enjoy it until it stops. I service all the units I sell, I don't want my customer unhappy because something went wrong weeks or months from when they get it. When you do a bunch of them over the years you know what needs to be done as preventive measures and fix anything that might be wrong. On the RS-805 depending on year made it usually needs the motor bushings replaced, head cleaned, channel advance and light assembly gone through. A new correct size belt never hurts and the record switch need to be cleaned. The early models can develop what I call a "death hum" in one channel. Again, If your unit plays just enjoy it until it stops.
When it comes to playing portables I like to see them playing cordless because that's the way they were designed. You take this thing and play it outside in the grass on batteries. I'll be a lot happier.
I've had one of those before. The Akai decks were beautiful, but the only problem with themm is finding parts for them, and if anyone has them, they want enough 💰 for them to RETIRE ON!!!
I have a Teleton STP812 from the 1970s and is in perfect working order. I also have a Pioneer car 8 track player from 1971, but unsure of the model number. I believe it was badge as a Lear in the U.S
Used to have an 8 track pioneer supertuner. I really enjoyed it and it gave me great sound. I also had it power boosted and I got pretty good bass out of it.
Cheap... it doesn't check the size of the record when you flip the reject lever. Better quality turntables "knock" the edge of the record with the stylus to verify if it is a 7", 10", or 12" record before dropping the needle.
I bought this for my mother back in 1977. I cannot find the power cord for it so can anyone that comes across this post tell me what kind of AC adaptor I need to purchase that will fit it? Thank you!
