The subject matter is great. However, it is difficult to hear him speak. I have my volume turned on, all the way. Please work on the sound. so that we are able to hear.
I'm afraid you were cutting the branches so quickly and pointing to buds that we couldn't see because the camera was too far away.. You cut out the dead wood but to a beginner you didn't show what it looked like..You didn't even suggest cutting at an angle so the rain drain away from the cut.Very disappointed,at the start you mentioned all the things you were going to go through which were the things I wanted to learn about but you whizzed right through cutting&taliking so fast I couldn't SEE what & How you were cutting the plant. If you watch other other videos you'll know what I mean 😐
Wow, you're fast! tee hee. I'm in Harwich on the mainland. Do you ever remove entire old branches right down to the ground to allow light to the base and to spur new main stems?
This was super helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us. I hope you make more videos, because you make it easy to understand.
Please film horizontal not portrait - much more professional and easier for us to view. Might mention doing this in very early spring allows the new growth to come out and get rid of the brown ends where the leaves are cut. I suggest after cutting and being happy with shape to then go just another inch or so deeper in to allow it to be perfect when the new flush of growth comes.
We grow numerous named varieties of H. paniculata in our Southern Ohio garden and we prune in late winter (did it today March 4, 2018). I think I've looked at just about every Hp pruning video on the internet and this is by far my favorite. I replay it each year on the morning before I go out to prune. Instructs are clear and concise. Thank you very much Brad - much appreciated!
