Thanks so much I appreciate that! It was only a few hundred dollars when I built it, but that was five years ago Prices have increased so much but I still think you could get something built well under what it cost to buy one premade The last time I saw an island sort of thing being sold in a big box store it was either a quarter of the size of this one or $2000 I think you could make it today for about six or 700
🎉 wow... You are really a pro madam. Appreciation from INDIA. You are pregnant and still doing all these so skilled. Hatsoff to you and blessings to the child. As mentioned YOU are to the point and not for RU-vid channel tricks . Well-done and all the Best Wishes and enjoyed your DIY project and will subscribe for more.
Thanks so much I appreciate that! The baby is here and healthy. We are doing great. Thanks so much for subscribing. I’m hoping to get more videos out ASAP.
Hey! I used SICO paints in Pumpkin seed I also love Benjamin Moore / Sheron Williams. Honestly any exterior grade paint depending on where you live. The stain I used was special walnut and dark walnut. Both are very similar. In the varathane gel stain. Hope that helps!!
I do but more so to apply the stain. Honestly it’s had like 6-7 different things there including all types of brushes because I wasn’t sure what was going to work. And some worked better for different areas. Like the corners etc. I’m glad you liked it!! Are you trying it out on yours??
I used a cotton cloth to wipe it off but I didnt press hard. the paintbrush was just a standard brush but its old so the brissles are harder but I think tat works better. does that help??
This is a question. I’ve been asked a lot. And although I don’t know the true answer from a professional. I do think it’s possible. What I would do first make sure that there are no visible signs that the ground beneath the existing concrete walkway is giving away or shifting Second, I would absolutely poor 3 inches or more of concrete over the top . And I would also probably double the rebar that’s it. don’t skip your relief cuts either in case it ships and cracks. It will crack in those joints. I hope that helps Maybe someone else can chime in if they’ve done this??
Aw, thanks so much!!! That means a lot. I hope you were able to check out some of my other videos. Good luck on future projects!! Let me know if you have any questions
Wow you do amazing work making an island in one day🎉. I'm just looking to see how I can make my island taller. ( Looks like getting a thick piece of butcher block is the way to go!!) ❤
Thanks so much! You could also see if your island is removable And build a taller base. Then you could just cap it in baseboard and paint it to match Good luck !!
DRYWALL? Im confused. Isnt drywall in sheets? Yes, it is. I hung drywall with my brother in his basement. You hang drywall like.... Idk.. LIKE PANELING!!
Lol you skip the most important prep- grinding the floor, etching is not good at all and please use PPE for yourself/ baby- those chemicals are no joke for babies 😁✌️
Thanks so much!! It felt so good to stand back and admire. I’m very proud of it Did you want my other concrete videos? I just made stairs a few weeks ago!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a concrete pad without bird tracks. I work for a grumpy old bastard of a farmer and right outside the front door to our shop is a track in the concrete where a mother duck led her ducklings across, I have a silent little giggle everytime imagining him standing there cursing out the ducks as soon as he found out.
They’re so cool right?! I wanted to leave them. But I didn’t tell the right person on site. So when I came home from picking the kids up they had them smoothed out 😢
Thanks!! They are smooth in a sense that you can walk on them and there’s nothing sharp, but it feels nice on your feet. But they’re not smooth like glass. It won’t be slippery and wet because the technique has created enough texture to give you grip
@@tomthurmon9211 here’s my concrete playlist. I never knew I would like concrete work so much! ru-vid.com/group/PLiRIq3hIB_vv83S5fR64sJ88HFB5g6kOM&si=_aFzyZ2NyANlceJA
@@catherinemarsh5453 of course!! Here’s the link to my full video where I explain each step. Let me know if you have any questions! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gy2i-z-YDco.htmlsi=Sbrx3BP-9S4CRvtm
I’m have the diy island video but I didn’t do too much else in there content wise. A lot is on my instagram @dc_woodworks But if you check out my latest videos, I’ve been a lot more consistent with posting ☺️
Really great job prepping the floor before the epoxy. You did a way better job at this than we did. Even so ours lasted for years and years before starting to fail in spots. Yours should last well beyond that. Also,.Congrats!
@@debrascott8775 thanks so much!! I just knew how angry I would be at myself if I didn’t prep this good. But I’m also glad to hear yours lasted a lot of years!! It’s a really great product I’ve been reading Thankyou!! We are so happy she’s here ❤️❤️❤️
For your front door, did you upgrade all your hardware to black? Like hinges and door knobs? Or did you spray paint anything? I am wanting to do this technique to my front door and want black hardware but wasnt sure spray paint would be a silly option or not lol
I upgraded them!! I suggest if you do spray paint to clean them really well and sand them after. Then do really thin coats. The problem I find with spray paint is people get too excited and put it on thick and it’s drips when the surface isn’t flat. Good luck!!
Acid etch is good but NOT used alone as a prep. You MUST concrete grind the floor. Step 2: Concrete Grind the floor. Step 3: Concrete Grind the floor. Step 4: Concrete Grind the floor. THEN?, Apply the primer, apply the epoxy & chips, &!then the clear-coat. Did I mention that you should Concrete Grind the floor?. Please, Concrete Grind the floor. Don’t forget: Concrete Grind the floor. Pro-Tip: Concrete Grind the floor.
I love watching all of your projects, you're amazing! Im in the process of convincing my husband to do cement steps into our yard. Congratulations on your new addition!!
Thanks so much!! I’m glad to inspire you 💪🏽 I love hearing it. you can definitely do it. Best part is you just do one at a time. It allows for you to correct any errors as you go
