I need a lot of help in setting up my Align 470L Combo kit that i have together now . I dont know anything about set up . I am using or wanting to use Spektrum DX6 with a AR600 reciever . PLEASE HELP .
Thank you for a terrific video. Straightforward and easy to follow. Been away from Helis for about a decade. Completely forgot how I went about programming my DX7 and JR X9503. Just ordered an IX14. Your video brought everything I need to know back to me.
I like your workbench setup. I'd like to set mine up similarly. I see you have peg board but what are those black hangers where all your tools are mounted to? Are they magnetic strips? Would you mind sharing a link to what they are?
Yes the tools are on magnetic strips I bought at harbor freight. You can get them at any hardware store or even Amazon but harbor freight had them the cheapest. The cell checkers, program boxes, etc have either Velcro on back or I wrapped the chord with a piece of Velcro and just stuck a Velcro stop to the peg board to stick them on. In the corner where I have the soldering station I used 4 12 inch granite tiles I got from Home Depot. For the work bench itself I used press board because it’s cheaper than ply, cut it in half for 2 24” by 48” sections and then used a full 4x8 section with long side sticking out so in all it’s 12ft along the wall with large section in the middle. Got a large piece of indoor outdoor carpet from home depot on clearance and just tucked it under and stapled it. Keeps stuff from moving around and stops screws and parts from bouncing everywhere when I drop something. I will try to post some pics but in the end it was pretty cheap to do once I finally figured out what I wanted to do which took some trial and error lol. www.harborfreight.com/18-in-magnetic-tool-holder-60433.html
I cant find their website. How reliable is this company? I'd hate to buy something that wont have parts in a few years. Also what makes this helicopter so great?
I had the same questions. Tony Whiteside at hardcorercproducts.com has more kits on the way and Heli direct is stocking them also. After building this kit I’m confident that Steam will grow and be around for a while. The current owner and designer of this kit bought all the Tarot stock of MK550/600 when they closed in 2020 and this is his 2nd version of a 700 design in the last 2 years. Based on the advancement in design and quality from V1 to the current I believe Steam will only grow. With that said I’m not sponsored by them nor do I get discounts so I will post about any likes and dislikes as it gets more flights. It’s a little cold here at the moment so may be a few weeks but based on initial impressions I might have found a new 700 myself. It came in at 11lbs with 2 22.2v 5000mah batteries, a scorpion 4525 520Kv, scorpion 300amp esc, and blades making it one of the lightest 700s I’ve built over the last couple years. With that said I haven’t built the new OMP or Goosky 700 as of yet. The tail section is one of the coolest I’ve scene and I believe will hold up better than others in crash situations. The pulley actually sits in the end of the boom lining it up perfectly with the front anti rotation gear. I like that it the lower side frames which could be cracked in a crash are easily replaced without removing motor, servos, etc at a low cost. With that said most brands are doing the same currently. It’s a low parts count, fast, and easy helicopter to build for sure. I really like the way the pinion sits between an upper and lower bearing inside a solid case which mounts to the motor. As far as what sets it apart from others is questionable. It’s early to tell for me. As I am intrigued by the tail, pinion bearing block design, and a few small things it won’t be until several flights so as to check wear and unfortunately a crash to see how it holds up before I can honestly say if it’s much different than others on the market currently. In the end it’s hard to find anything on the market that really stands out from others considering the current selection of brands that fly great with good designs and quality parts.
@@rcflightline2839 is this an American company do you know? Also I have a Goosky S1, S2, RS4 Venom (just received and not built yet), Trex 470L, and just received a Trex TB40, also unbuilt. So I have a bunch of small and medium sized helis. I will eventually get a large heli. I am looking at the Goosky RS7 obviously, but this AK you have here has me intrigued. Please keep posting about it as perhaps I'll be ready to buy a 700 class sometime in the fall. Hopefully by then will have enough info to make a good decision. Thanks
Thanks again for sharing. I appreciate your excellent open box information and let us trust this company products. Today I also receive my AK700 and the quality has totally exceeded my expectations, not saying it’s reasonable cost, but the precision and design would provide top building experience. Expecting to rock it up sky. Thanks sir for your video.🎉❤
Looks awesome!! Have been waiting for this for a LONG time! Are there any upgrades available for the AK 700? What about different color canopies? Where can I buy them?
Hopefully it will get first flight tomorrow. Will post another video showing everything close up at end of build and my thoughts. I think it’s going to be an amazing Heli. When it comes to canopies not sure at the moment but hardcorercproducts.com/collections/all Should have different canopy options listed in the next few weeks.
Centre of gravity importance is a myth. Heli will fly on one blade and a piece of lead on the other blade holder. So long as the moment force is the same. Just use the balancer. Also have leading edge on the same side. It is very important that blades are precisely in line. This is easy, just press the two leading edges up against a table edge or whatever. No problem if the blades are not exactly perpendicular to balancer axis, so long as they are in line. Out of line, one will effectively have a different moment arm…. Bad. It’s all physics.
I disagree. Most brands of blades on the market have the same CG, weight, and balance. If CG is off it will in fact cause tracking issues of the blades. As I said this isn’t much of an issue anymore IF blades aren’t mixed from 2 different packages. Yes the helicopter will still fly but will cause vibrations and less accurate maneuvering due to tracking problems.
On most brands of newer carbon fiber blades it’s really not necessary as they are pretty well balanced out of the package. I still check cg on align blades or if I ever pull 2 blades that didn’t come in the same package. I’m not sure if they still make this balancer or not. I think it’s made by thunder tiger but I will check to make sure when I get back home in a little bit.
On a scale helicopter with a 4 bladed head I would use no more than 10.5 degrees positive on collective pitch. On 2 bladed I would start at 12 degrees positive and adjust it based on how the Heli flies. Does it bog with positive collective or does it jump to fast. On negative I usually use about 4 degrees negative on scale so I can drop the Heli pretty quick if I need to and it’s enough negative to keep a flat roll if you needed or chose to roll the Heli.
@@wilbertdaley7859 I have the 330s as well. Once I get better at flying, I’m putting in an Airwolf body with retractable gear. Hopefully pop out guns, but that may be a big ask of my current skills
I'm new to collective pitch helis and this just solved so many problems I've been having. Thank you!! Great informative video I just happened to stumble across!!!
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Luca Felipe Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks for the video. Your commentary was great and very helpful. Without throwing stones, if you could hold the camera a little more still and slowly move over the area you are discussing that would improve your analysis even more.
We used to say 50 in 50 out setting up a fly bar helicopter years ago. If you set the pitch to 0 which would be no positive and no negative than you would have plus 50 on positive pitch and -50 negative. If this is one of the first collective pitch helicopters you have flown I woulda start with 0 pitch with servo arms at 90 degrees and than full collective about 12 degrees and full negative at 12 degrees. If you will not be flying inverted you could make the negative about 5 and it won’t drop as fast. Are you using a beastx?
@@rcflightline2839 thank you this is how i flew before i had a change in life , but i have a t rex 470 lp on the way i will limit the amount of questions i pester you with and watch the videos more carefully thank you here you go ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I8ylpPQM6mY.html
hello this seems very overwhelming , i will be setting up a beast x , could i use this as a pitch gauge to begin with until i can do the main shaft leveling? . thank you for this video series on this heli tool
Yes if you don’t want to level the main shaft I would suggest putting the level on the motor and just getting the motor level forward, back, side to side and than just set the pitch on one side and than rotate the other blade to the same spot and level that to 0 also.
@@rcflightline2839 when you say set the pitch on one side what step is that and what video . thank you i am so intrigued by this and would like to learn how to use it
antoine ozaneaux in the video the mainshaft is centered so it doesn’t matter where the blade or gauge is as you turn the head. If you just level off the motor which I do if I’m at the field and don’t have time to really use the potential of a perfect level the Heli could still be off a tiny bit as your turn the head. If you set both blades on the same side of the helicopter you know at least the pitch and 0 will be the same on both blades because you set them in the same spot. I’m not sure if I have a beastx or not but I can do a quick video on the process of setting up a beastx in the morning. The beastx is a pretty simple set up and flies good.
@@rcflightline2839 thank you i fly a blade 300x a 450 x both on ar7200 bx and my new heli align 470lp uses a microbeast plus . it is being assembled by don dewitts. i understand menu g and k but i do not own a pitch gauge so i set everything by feel and swash level by eye . complete idiot basically . i love to tinker for perfection with shitty blade models . i know they have quite a bit of slop but i would like to see how good one could feel if set up proper . thats why i want to buy a pitch gauge or the sokoheli ,the 470 should be pretty dialied when i get it but i want hands free perfection please dont make a beast video until i can get back my remote and new heli ,thank you so very much for your help
This is great help in setting up my new DX8G2 For a FBL heli with IKON2. The reason I changed to the DX8 is becouse it's receivers can handle more voltage for servos. My Devo 7 transmitter only good for 4.5 volts and causing trouble with HV servos.
I,m trying to figure out my gain settings for the spektrum ix12 an de Gpro. It has a violent turn with rudder input, so gain to high? With futaba i have a stable heli. Go figure.
@@henkpipo4233 I did not have this problem with my futaba receiver. I plugged the spektrum satellite in the gpro and bind to the transmitter. Meaning something else is going wrong in the spektrum setup.
Tony Chang sorry I haven’t replied. With most flybarless units trim would be set up in the software of the unit for example Beastx, VBar, Ikon/ Brain. The radio is usually set up as 1 servo 90 whereas the FBL unit is set up at 3 servo 120 so most adjustments are done through the FBL.
Thanks for the video. Question. I have Spektrum DX7 and maximum travel adjust value is 150%, while default is 100%. In the manual for microbeast plus it says to set travel to "zero" value. Should I leave it at 100% or at maximum - 150%?
Leave it at 100%. A servos speed and torque are rated at 60 degrees. On a spectrum radio that is 100%. 150% whorls put the servo at 90 degrees which would cause binding on a helicopter.
