@@seniorhomecarehq6794 it is common practice now to send people home the same day after hip and knee replacement surgery. Our health care system is a mess and there are no hospital beds to keep patients for even a night. I'm 2 months post surgery, doing well, still have a few more physio appts left to try and improve things like going up stairs on that leg and getting up from a chair/toilet unassisted. The other hip is scheduled for Sept.
I am interested in 202 program and when I looked in the description it was the same information that was given in the video. Would like more details please, and. I think everyone knows about sec 8 but there’s a lot of people who don’t qualify for all those benefits and might get 10 or 15 dollars more than low income not saying people don’t need help with sec 8 at all
Thanks for watching Doris. Here is more information on the 202 program with some resources links on that page. Hopefully you find it helpful. www.hud.gov/program_offices/housing/mfh/progdesc/eld202
55+ independent living as well as the others described are ALL buyins. They cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to get into and then you pay over 4,000 in rent whether or not a person needs medical or cognitive assistance or not. So finding something affordable is extremely difficult. It certainly is big business.
I am turning 65, me and my husband are on a fixed income and looking for a safe secure place in Miami or Fort Myers Florida. I want to move near my sister in Florida who has Cancer. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hope you find something that is reasonable and within your means. We created a video on Government programs that assist seniors with housing. We also have one on charities that assist seniors with housing. What I need is how can I decide, even when I am legally allowed to do so, if the person I care for is deteriorating ,but does not acknowledge that something is going on in their brain and are unwilling to be diagnosed? NO DIAGNOSIS! It is becoming dangerous, medication is left out or taken more of it than needed and causes harm to them ( too much of bloodpressure lowering medication , getting up from a chair and becoming unconscious for ex.). Forgetting where they have parked their car, going to the police claiming the car has been stolen. Eating 8 eggs at a time, calling their spouse belonging in a loony bin , name calling, etc. During good days they seem to act rationally, this can change from one minute to another. Steeling food from the fridge of their spouse , stopping a car insurance.
That's why it's always good to visit and tour the facilities to see how they operate. Also taking the time to ask staff members and the residents questions about the facility.
@@seniorhomecarehq6794 When a person is on Medicaid or very low income they don't have much choice of what long term care they can get. It's usually this is what's available for you. Take or go without. I've seen it.
@@seniorhomecarehq6794People ca also get abused in these situations. Lawyers and Social Workers don't always do or know what's best for a client and the client is forced to sign away their rights and freedoms. I found out a Lawyer I used for my legal papers went to jail for stealing money from his senior clients under his "Guardianship" ! They dope you up with psychotropic drugs to control behavior, sit you in a wheel chair and give you bad food and a shower once a week and hardly ever toilet you before you soil yourself and wear a dirty diaper for hours even if you're non incontenient they will make you incontenient. I've seen it.
Had both hips replaced , left 4 yrs ago took for ever to heal, had right hip replaced 2 weeks ago, already walking without even a cane. Had the same surgeon for both. Why the difference who knows. I'm dumb founded between the two surgeries. I still have pain in my left hip, but it's tendinitis.

Even with a family you can do this. Just have to plan accordingly. Some do 3 month, 6 month or 12 month cruises and still have their primary home to come back to.
I'm six weeks post-op Anterior THR. I'm still sore, but my flexibility is slowly improving. I have arthritis in my knee, so I just had a cortisone shot. Hopefully, this will help my recovery. I'm doing PT & working out at the gym.
My mom had both side hip replacement just 15 days back Now she have severe pain our doctor not recommended us pain killers she has much pain she can't able to sleep at nyt or day time Anytime she will cry Doctor said she should not sleep one side but my mom want to sleep one side HOW MANY DAYS AFTER BILATERAL HIP SURGERY SHE CAN SLEEP ONE SIDE ? Plz answer
Hello Ashwini, It's better to take the advice of your surgeon. Because she probably has sutures or staples is the reason he is recommending not for her to sleep on one side. If you can maybe she can sleep with pillows under her hip for comfort. When she goes back to her next visit then should ask when it would be okay for her to sleep on her side.
I am 70 years old have been waiting a year the cartlidge my hip has worn away completely i only have pain when I put weight on it despite being on strong pain killers and walking with a crutch I am finally having my op 7th September have been reading all the comments on people's experiences after the op and to be honest I am terrified of both the op and how I'm going to manage all the restrictions when I come home (I live on my own) my daughter keeps telling me how easy it is as her boss has 80 year old dad who is having no problems and needed no help(guess thats her hint not to ask her) when he came home. Have just checked if she will be able to pick me up when I am ready to come home her response was im not waiting around i am going out that night! (I said I hope to come home sunday) she's going on holiday on the Monday so will have to ask hospital to arrange transport if I come out then it just hope and pray everything goes right and I don't have any problems
You will be fine May Benton. If you have any questions just ask in the comments. Make sure you follow all of the pre-op instructions and education they have for you at your orthopedist.
Good luck to you, I'm in the same predicament,I am 66yo.and also live by myself, it seems like nobody' wants to be bothered,I'm a little concerned about how to get around after I have my hip surgery, from what I understand just be careful pay attention to the dues and don,ts its very important.Well wish me luck, surgery is set for March 2024
How goes it Joe? Surgery must be about now. @@J.G.817 I'm same predicament - told too complex for Consultant at small hospital...needs well stocked Theatre with all possible needs to be to hand...now have to find alternative so recommends welcome...the pain ia awful and can barely walk. Walker or crutches - and still not seen by GP Surgery - only referred on when self referred to Physio and Xray taken...revealing bone on bone and worst she'd ever seen! As you say...no-one seems to care - and as I live alone too dismissed as they know I'll need help afterwards - and told I'd be in hospital for some time...not a 3 day job! In despair now...to say the least. Searching for help!
On day 4 here.. Anterior hip replacement. Some minor swelling and pain. Vitals are normal. Able to walk unaided, but still using the cane to be careful. Used the walker for first days for balance mostly. Only taking acetaminophen. I wouldn't advise this for most people. Able to take normal showers. Days 1-3 are the worst. Day 2 was worst for me, but bearable. Sleeping better now with no pain, compared to before with osteoarthritis. The exercises are important. A raised toilet seat is necessary and a leg lifter to make getting in and out of bed easier.
I had anterior hip replacement 5 weeks ago. My doctor gave me no precautions. He did say listen to your body. I'm so glad I did it I feel so much better.
With my hip replacement I did not get out of bed for 3 days that’s when I walked for the first time down the hallway and up and down 6 stairs, I also had general Anastasia, the surgeon went in on the front side like at 11 o’clock ! And I’m going back for my other 1 ! Because mainly martial arts back in 1998 - 2012 ! A Chiropractor said our bodies were not designed to move like that ! RU-vid all the action stars ! Only 1 looks good still is Scot Atkins ! But SuperFoot Bill Walis has had both his hips replaced Twice “ Because he likes to kick people in the head !
You have a good Surgeon if you have this kind of recovery. Not many people recover as well as you did after total hip replacement surgery. That's awesome!
Hello Jasmyn! Hip abduction pillows are mostly used in the hospital environment. However if you find that you are not going to a rehabilitation facility and are being d/c home. Hopefully you will be with someone that could assist you with this. If you will be living alone. We recommend just keeping the pillow wedged between your legs. It will be too difficult to put the straps in place and/or remove them. It will also violate your hip precautions, if any, if you tried to do it yourself. Hope this helps.
