A man that used his skills to reinvent himself and amazingly he is still alive . History will tell but nobody has done that song like Bill and god bless him . Drove trucks millions of miles and that song was a masterpiece.
I have seen him play twice! Both times were excellent. First time, was at a bar in Rockford, Ilinois. I danced and danced! I have all the Commander Cody albums. Fond memories. Love Tina Louise and Semi Truck!
I drove down to the Danny Gatton tribute show at The Birchmere not long after he got booked for the great gig in the sky. I made the mistake of commiserating with fellow travelers in the lobby while Bill was doing his thing. I was talking to a young man who knew Danny, peppering him with questions regarding Danny’s demise. He had to stop me, telling me to pay attention to Bill. I’m like the lonely housewife when I attend the shows of the non mainstream musicians I follow. I’m simply thrilled to be in the company of folks who have heard of and quite admire these artist. I bend a lot of ears. I cannot help myself.
DC fan from long ago, thanks . Dieselbilly rocknroll. Seen him do this every show, always great. I'd love to see Bill play with Dale Watson or Jr. Brown
