💙 Ruben van Roon is a drum teacher at the faculty of The Amsterdam Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory in the Hague Holland. He has a great experience as a drummer in leading bands from The Netherlands like Candy Dulfer, Focus and Kraak en Smaak. He has a big role in developing young drum talent over there, a lot of drummers are now making a career in the leading groups (Jazz, Pop, Indie, Dance and Funk). His teachings are all about strengthen your mental health and be the responsible drummer people love to play with. So groove, feel, timing and dynamics are his leading subjects.
I thought this man would be super duper 'eccentric' just from the music videos I have watched over the years. I was completely wrong. A *talented musician who is well adjusted and has a *true passion for music. Bravo.
I hear a 10" tom on Aja. Steve just did a video interview this year and said it was his pearl kit, but he may of forgotten. This is getting as mysterious as Tony williams's ride cymbal
I bought a set of these exact concert toms last year for about $150. 10,12,15,16 Seriously considering putting on bottom heads. Did you have to do anything to the bottom bearing edge? Also, do you know if Steve's supra was brass or aluminium. Personally, I think it sounds like aluminium. Thanks for a great video

I saw him just a couple days after this show, at the Cellar Door in Washington DC. The outside temperature was in the Mid-teens, and it had been raining. About 40 minutes earlier, I had seen them doing last minute gear checks, before heading outside for a safety meeting. When they came back inside, Gadd headed to the bar and slammed a highball glass of Courvasier before climbing on stage. Within seconds, they had heated up a rather cold (literally) room to the boiling point and proceeded to "blow da' roof offa' da' joint." To this day, it is one of the most intense shows I've ever seen...

Amazing. You’re spot on with the history of the 10” Tom. Remember that 40s 50s drummers were also experimenting. The Concert Tom Tom was very prolific with drummers like Lionel Hampton and even chick Webb. I think your conversation and explanations are really important to the world of music. Brilliant
