My mom and aunt went to the plantation for a report they were doing. The tour guide told them Aunt Pratt wanted her portrait to be hung where she can see the cemetery in the back. Also, if a baby is heard crying, Aunt Pratt’s peace is disturbed and strange things will start happening while guests are in the house. They asks that you keep your children calm before entering.
I was looking into going here because I’ve heard so many stories. I wish more known people would check this place out. It’s definitely got a creepy cool history!!!!!
As a Northerner, I was intrigued by your name as being Southern-based stories.... but I guess the Triangle counts, as it's being in Southern Alaska ( OK, I know it's a growner, but I just couldn't help it 😄).
We were just down in Cleveland a couple of months ago. I filmed a quick video in the Fort Hill Cemetery that I'm about to put out. While researching more about the cemetery, I found the story of Tall Betsy. Super cool and creepy. I'll link back to your video in a comment when I post it so people can hear more. Awesome stuff! Subbed and following
As a Louisvillian I feel a bit bad not knowing this history. I’ve read tons about Scottish and English resurrectionists but never learned about a well known one from right here in my backyard almost. Definitely will be checking out your Louisville book.
I went to a church convention in Louisville, Kentucky in 2002. We stayed at the Galt House hotel, and there was definitely some unexplained activity going on there. The revolving doors to the entrance kept opening and closing repeatedly, although no one was walking through them. A group of friends and myself were standing near a small restaurant/bar that was inside the hotel. As we were standing there talking, I saw a black shadow standing behind the bar, which was closed at the time. It began to slowly move back and forth and I froze without saying a word. All of a sudden, my friend Jennifer looked towards the bar pointing and asked the group, “Do y’all see that?” Without a word, I took off running towards the elevator, and my friends followed. When we were on the elevator, Jennifer asked me why I ran. I told her I saw a black shadow standing behind the bar. Her eyes got really wide and big, and she said, “That’s what I saw!” In another incident the following day, the same group of friends and I took the elevator up to the top floor to explore a bit. At that time in 2002, the top floor was used for somewhat of a museum of some sorts, with items and pictures from previous years at the hotel. There were no rooms up there. A couple of us only stepped about halfway off the elevator while the rest stayed on with the doors opened. We began hearing strange noises like someone crying, but a deep moaning type of cry. It was distant at first, but started getting closer but we couldn’t see anyone. We ran back to the elevator, and went back to our rooms, and didn’t speak about anything that happened, until we left Kentucky! When I got home, I did a small bit of research and read that the Galt House hotel had been the scene of multiple murders, and multiple fires where people lost their lives. I apologize for the long comment, but I said all this to say, That place is definitely haunted!
