Kaya is coconut jam. Its salty sweet taste because of the butter and kaya jam on the toast. You must put some soy sauce and pepper in the egg before you dunk your toast in the egg. Asians eat for their taste we don't have preconcieved ideas of how food should look and taste like. Like mixing toast and half boiled eggs. Needs getting used to. Who would have thought to cook fish head with curry as a dish. I suggest that for foreigners travelling with kids you should go to the hawker centres where there are variety of hawkers selling food which the kids can also eat and not spicy for them. Ocra in malay is "bendi". I think its not that common in Indonesia.
We eat soft boiled egg with soy sauce, the roti kaya is a dessert. What I love about Johor Bahru is half an hour from the city you can visit the beautiful east coast beach= Desaru. Johor Bahru undergoing rapid development, in 2,3 years you will see major difference 👌
when in Penang or KL.. do try the real Malay Mamak fish head curry Indian style.. the one you had is a Chinese fish head curry.. the mosque you had wanted to visit was build in the late 19th century.. Queen Victoria was still alive..
