Hey man! Just got frame slides for my bike as well! Just got done installing and I don't access to a torque wrench I just tightened the bolt with an Allen key really good, as far as it could go. Is that bad? I don't want to mess anything up. Mines a Z400 but whatever 🤣
You are awesome as armyrunt said, 4 years later this is so helpful. PDF manual had lame pictures that would have required a magnifying glass even when fully zoomed'! Thanks again. FFS I cannot stress enough watch the damn washer. It slipped so much I had to lay my bike down to get it back in position.
Not gonna lie this made for one hell of an ASMR video. Very precise high quality soft mechanical sounds coming from the mechanic and the background noises are nice and quiet, and you can even hear the water droplets lol. Idk what type of mic he used but damn... Crazy good mic. This is going straight into my ASMR playlist :). Also thanks for the tutorial, helped me out a ton!
Don't feel bad, I just dropped my bike a week ago. When it had only 90 miles on it, slipped on gravel at a stop sign. Funny thing....had frame sliders in a box next to the bike but hadn't gotten around to installing yet. Sigh...a few scratches on the 400 logo stickers in the right side now....looking around to see if I can just buy the stickers and replace them.
another one who bit the bullet on the ninja 400.. awesome video btw.. getting the fairing off (with the pull tabs hidden) makes me jittery. you make it look easy tbh. Also, i was looking at the carbon finish frame sliders from shogun (those look real bada**) but are not in stock anywhere. guess will have to wait and do this later.
Nice video👍,...Does yours sometimes miss on low revs , like when you rev it up quick? When I stop at a traffic light sometimes it does this not all the time tho, also Mine runs pretty hot I have the fan kicking in frequently as I do a lot of city riding, open road it runs cooler ? P.S. have you seen the black redbull ninja 400 on instagram, some decal company....it looks awesome almost regret buying the Green krt one ..
@@motofonts5095 You have a very pleasant voice. You just need to get the mic closer. Have you thought of using a wireless lav that you can clip to your collar? I didn't think I saw one in the video and just thought I might suggest it.
Just attempted to install the same no-cut frame sliders on my wife's Ninja 400, left side first, the Shogun engine bolt seems a hair too long as I can't get it tighten enough to hold the offset in place, still a few turns short. Did you run into that? I wonder if I have a defective bolt. It's close, but not close enough.
We were having the same issue on the left side until I figured out I was using the wrong location on the frame. There is location further back on the frame with the same bolt and spacer....oops.
I had the same problem. The Shogun installation instructions for the left side has an incorrect photograph (along side of a correct location photo) that shows the wrong location for where the engine bolt came from. The right location is forward to what is shown in the second photograph of step 3 of the Shogun installation instructions.
will you be able to do a step by step guide how to remove the fairings, i want to do it alone but i dont have enough confidence so the frame sliders still sit in their box.... i will really appriciate it, thanks
AlcatrazMeow hey! Not sure if you found this video yet or not, but SBT made a video just for this! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ac1eDkPSo_E.html
Tony Kingry sorry! Have been dealing with crazy personal stuff! I'm thinking of doing a simple beginner's guide, what do you think? Is there something in particular you want?
I bought the same bike for my son. It is the perfect bike for beginners. Not too big, and not so small that you feel underpowered on the freeway. It is very nimble & flickable. Throttle response is slow and progressive (great for beginners), not twitchy like larger bikes. 2:18 The Ninja 300 was getting long in the tooth, and Kawasaki needed a new player in the small displacement class. The lighter & more powerful Yamaha R3 was spanking the Ninja 300 on the track and in sales. Kawasaki could have been lazy and crammed a larger engine into the 300 frame and called it a day. But that would have been a stopgap solution, as the 300 platform wasn't optimized for 400 cc engine. So they did the right thing and started over with a new, lighter platform matched for the new engine. 4:54 The rear shock has 5 preload settings. "2" is the factory setting. 6:00 I agree the brakes are a little soft, and upgraded pads would probably make a big difference. I am not sure stainless brake lines would be worth the cost, unless you go to the track a lot. 6:40 I have not noticed any transmission issues. Both upshifts and downshifts are smooth, and easy for beginners to manage. The stock exhaust is embarrassing. It sounds like a sewing machine on valium. That will be the first mod for my son's bike. A loud(er) exhaust is definitely a *good* thing - it lets other drivers know you are there. Ride smart, and ride safe ✌️
having a decent corner speed won't even give you the feel of "falling" into the corner, its the opposite, it will drag you back out... the bike tends to "fall" more easily into corners due its tires and weight distribution. it will give you a sportier feel and makes riding fast corners easier. thats why the n400 is a bike you can grow into, unlike many other starter bikes
Like Enis said, the solution is speed. If you have enough speed going into a corner, the bike won't feel like it will fall. One of the most difficult aspects of learning to ride is trusting the bike. Beginners are timid in corners because they don't trust the bike to stay upright. But in order for the bike to do its job, you must have enough speed. It is kind of a catch-22.
Aye bro! Just wanna say thank you for posting this video! Called about 5/6 places and everybody was booked till June to install my frame sliders. But with this video I just installed them myself. Saved me about $150! Again thank you!
arvin mendoza I'm not sure if it's "worth" it, but I do like it! moto911.com/shop/shogun-frame-sliders/shogun-carbon-s5-frame-sliders/ninja-400-2018-no-cut-carbon-s5-frame-sliders/
