about the water resistance, although it is marketed as splash proof, you can find stories from people all around how this watch simply outperforms the claim, people have gone diving with it, people have frozen this watch in water, and it has still come out victorious.
@@swaroop_pany , Love that! I’ll have to be one of those who will be telling my story about how mine outperforms its stated specs. Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for watching.
@@TheGeekazoid, everyone keeps telling me that! It looks soooo puny on my wrist. I’m wearing it now and for the rest of the week to “try” to get used to it but I’m not convinced just yet. You never know, only idiots don’t change their minds. Thanks for your comment. It adds to the “mystic” of this watch. I know it’s iconic but, it’s going to be an uphill battle 😏
@@user-ig6nu4oo5p , You’re right. It’s just because I don’t see myself wearing it. BUT … I have a subscriber that “dared” me to wear it all week and I now have it on my wrist until next weekend 😉 Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
I got this watch after a tip of which Casio should be a part of my watch collection. The first impression was that it's so small and light. It's really like a child watch. It just should have at least mineral glass crystal then, because the acryl will get a lot of scratches if children wear it. I use it now and then, and for the price of a pizza and a beer at a restaurant I cannot complain about its shortcomings.
@@patricj951 , thanks for your insight. “… like a child watch …” is exactly what I was thinking. Another subscriber told me I’d be surprised if I wore it all week, how I would like it. I may just do that. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
@@fredericmarchini4005 , Tu penses?!?
I have a 6.75" wrist and this watch looks great on it. I normally like watches around 40mm so if you're hesitant about the smaller size just forget about it 😊
Effectivement Frédéric, tu as totalement raison.
This watch will give you great value for such an affordable price. solar charging so as long as you give it a good dose of sun or light source, no battery replacement. It is also accurate and is Casio durable. Has great complications if you use them.
@@Avaddon911 , funny you say that b/c I was wondering what it would “feel” while getting to the max wind of a fully manual wind watch. I figure it would be very noticeable but I truly don’t know. Thanks for your insight.
I finally picked up my first g shock. I bought the 5600, it’s updated with a white led backlight. I’m happy with it so far, and fits my small wrist like a glove. Great review !
I like your overview! You've gained a sub. As for the Murph watch, I've been contemplating buying one and still can't decide between the 38 and the 42. I think the 38 would look better on my wrist but the "eureka" morse code on the 42 is a nice touch that the 38 doesn't have..
@@garyweber8201 - First of all, thanks for the kind words! Second, I TOTALLY agree with your dilemma. Initially, when I bought the 42, the 38 version wasn’t an option, but today, I would have the exact same questions … and, to be honest, I don’t regret my choice b/c the “eureka” indication is what sold me in the first place. The tie-in to the movie is more important to me, even today. Thanks for watching!
@@rafaelcostapalmeira - Hi, yes, there is the G-Shock GAW-100B that is VERY close to the same dimensions with the ana-digi combo. You can find the review of this watch on my channel as well. If you go to the “Playlists” section, you’ll find “G-Shock” and the GAW-100B is there. I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
@@derekobrian4285 - Their main location is here: Büro-Adresse, Boxhagener Str. 78, 10245 Berlin, Germany. However, I think they only sell on-line. By the way, just a small advice; when you write in ALL CAPS, the typical significance is that you are screaming at the person you are writing. You may want to take that in consideration next time you write to someone. Thanks for your comment and I hope you are able to find what you want. Happy hunting :-)
Nouvel abonné ici. Excellent review.
@@joshsher6327 - I totally agree with you. I hear that there are a few in the works that may correspond to your statement. However, after my brief discussion with Mr. Bertucci himself, he clearly indicated “if it’s not broken, why fix it” 😉 I.e. it’s a formula that made them what they are now. It may take time before they go in the direction you mention. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
I just wanted to say hi. I like watches. I cannot afford anything fancy though. Can you recommend something charming but not flashy for a broke guy in his early 30s
@@user-tq6mm5xu1q good question. With export fees, a distribution hub in the USA and prices and taxes which vary from country to country, it’s very difficult to say “why”. Thanks for your comment.

Very good review and thanks for the links to the straps. I purchased this watch and extra bracelet yesterday and today the website says the watch is out of stock.
Just gifted one for Fathers Day 2024. The blue contrasts great with the black case. My version solar only. Very legible, great light and fits my 7.25 inch wrist really nicely and comfortable.
I own this watch,it is amazing, i like that it is solar powered so i don't have to worry about buying a battery for it,it's awesome i give it a thumbs up 👍
I love the black/brushed chrome one I own. To be nit picky, I wish the face was a little larger and I really wish it had a second hand rather than a digital counter. But I like it just the same. Nice rugged look.
Yes, I realize it now but, at the time, it was not specified in the G-Shock Canada website. I simply didn’t want to take a chance and, in the end, the watch is well worth the price I paid. Thanks for your comment but mostly, thanks for watching.
Yes, totally agree. It’s my “go-to” watch when I’m outside working on the lawn, the garden or the pool. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!
Thanks for your comment. Currently, Hamilton does not make a 22 mm bracelet for this watch. IMHO, I feel the lugs are too long to accommodate a bracelet and, the core of this watch is a Field Watch so, either a strap or more specifically, a NATO-like strap would be more fitting. I hope this puts things in perspective for you. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for your question; indoor light is less efficient but it works. I keep my solar watches in a watch box that has a transparent cover and they all stay fully charged. However, once every month or so, I put them on a window sill facing the light when it’s bright but not sunny … never leave a solar watch under direct sunlight unattended … you’ll fry the circuits at some point. Hope this helps. Thanks for taking the time to write.
@@timetowatch_francois it looks like with very little sun light exposure daily, battery level stays in HIGH . Also the watch itself has battery saving techniques like putting digital display to sleep when not exposed to light for a longer time. Display comes back live once the light hits the dial or you press any buttons. I like this watch and recommend it to everyone. Only con is if you have a very skinny wrist the watch will look very big on your hand.
I am looking to upgrade and this watch was is on my list but I find that the GWG 2000 or the GWG B 1000 both look much premium than the GWG 1000. Same toughness but that metal makes it look so much premium.
I agree with you and I was hesitant to get the GWG-2000 because of the look and feel. However, I like that the GWG-1000 without the metal is lighter and I am not as worried about scratches on it. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
@@timetowatch_francois Actually both the gwg 2000 and the gwg b 1000 despite having metal parts on them, are lighter than the GWG 1000. Both are even thinner and slimmer than the gwg 1000 so I would need to go to a casio store to try these out.
Yes, you are right. For this one, I completely forgot to show the backlight. Typically, I always show the Lume and the backlight. I encourage you to view my other reviews to see. Thanks for your comment.
I wanted to buy the GWG-1000-1A3JF at the time, but found it too expensive and got the GWG-100-1A3 instead. It always lacked that certain something and many other watches found their way to me afterwards. Now, years later, I had the GWG-100-1A3 on my wrist again and checked the prices of the 1000. Then I saw your video and knew what to do. I have just ordered the GWG1000 and know exactly what I was missing. Best regards from Germany
