The factory in Waterford he collected the sides of beef was Clover meats. It was a huge firm in its day. It was owned by the O' Meara family from Limerick who were huge exporters of both beef, pork and bacon.
I’m just watching this now as it came up on my RU-vid feed - some comments are saying Stoney Burke passed away, I’m sorry to hear that, he looked like a sound man RIP
My late dad did the continent in late 70s early 80s for carna. I went to Holland with him once. He got the first scania 142 carna got in 81. First in Ireland
My dad drove part time for local company.he gave up full time when me and my siblings came along.anyway, drove a DAF 3300,had to take a stool to sit in as drivers removed passenger seat for more room.
I done that run for years, the davis turner drivers were the Yellow Packs of the industry, driving better trucks then us, but paid in peanuts. I worked for Lebratrans Roy & Fred and was earning 3 times that. Happy days !!!
7:00 What would he have done to deal with an old David Brown gearbox? The synchromesh ZF-gearbox was a pleasure to use, gear changes went so smoothly uphill and downhill. 16:51 German soldiers have never been marauding!
OMG. I drove for 30 years for a living, not tricks, and you lot make it sound so terrible. I bet a load of you actually made good money and had a great time. Of course you did nothing wrong it was always the other drivers and government agencies. Bit besides all that I enjoyed these two videos.
Cabs and more!....... now there are single axle trucks delivering minerals to shops with 230hp lumps.... Stoney needed to walk the gear stick around the cab to get them all. 😂
@Seamus Burke John is a taxi driver based up at the square in Tallaght.. Absolute gentleman he is.. I worked with him at Sydney Coopers in Dublin back in the day.. Some great lads worked there.. 👍🏾😊😊
I thought I was hard done by driving an F7 artic pulling 34 tonne of coal from the Durham coalfield to ferrybridge and drax on a daily basis 16 speed box and 16 gear changes per minute how time’s have changed
How times have changed, now direct ferry services from Ireland to Europe and the new Dublin - Continental European ports of Zeebrugge and Rotterdam using mega ferries. Not forgetting the existing Irish routes to Northern France. These routes will by pass Brexit Britain and its pre EU paperwork
I remember driving though shitty puss boxes. I Want to drive America.. Best trucks.. My grand. Ask me y no . Y.. I Ask him. How Many funinarals.. Interesting... Get on.. Xxoo.
