Yes you are 100% right! I have small clips in the video of the songs I reference, but I encourage you to go support these artist and listen to the songs so that you can hear these samples in action!
How did Sprite in particular become so popular? 7-Up is the only lemon-lime I actually sort of like. IMO Coca-Cola and PepsiCo never have produced a really tasty lemon-lime (and PepsiCo brands have the most *brain-dead* names: Slice, Sierra Mist, and "Starry" 🤢🤮).
Sprite pretty much cornered the market with marketing to the youth in the 70’s and 80’s with advertisements in hip hop and sports and never stopped so they got people hooked as kids! All the other companies were unable to grab that market in the same way lol
Sprite has had this really close relationship with hip hop since the 1980s. I’m showing my age but I came up on when Kid ‘n’ Play and Hi-Five were in the commercials 🧓🏾 I knew if I stayed on this app long enough, someone would produce a high-quality video about this. Thank you 😊
This is the first video I see of yours, halfway through this video I noticed you have 870 views and 579 subs. Ngl based on the production value and the way you carry yourself and the writing/editing for this video, I assumed this was a much bigger channel. I say this an absolute compliment! Maybe I’m making a fool of myself and this is a second channel to a much bigger channel, but yeah man keep this up and this channel about to blow up, good luck bro. As for the video itself, very informative. Could be that I’m not American but I never associated Sprite with hiphop. I’m Lebanese and the soft drinks that dominate here are Pepsi/Miranda/7 Up (though I personally prefer Coca Cola/Fanta/Sprite), which is why we don’t really have any Coca Cola marketing here, it’s all Pepsi so that could be the reason I don’t make that connection. Perhaps others from outside the US that are exposed to Sprite marketing, do.
This is my favorite comment I’ve ever gotten g! Thank you for the compliment! I’m trynna make more videos like these I just really like video essays and sharing new information!!! It’s so crazy to me that these companies only market in these crazy ways in America 🤯 I might have to do a video about that😂😂
@@JTreb that’d be a really interesting video. I like how you made a video essay about Sprite and kept it relevant to the music theme of the channel. Solid. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for future vids
@@JTreb nah celebrity brand deals and endorsements are way less common over here and when we do have 'em it tends to be sports people esp. footballers... great video though :)
you are 100% right! but I didn't know this until his RnB and Money episode that came out after this short! Good catch, I love shouting out the writers on my sample breakdowns!
