Storytelling makes up everything from video games to books, it is the structure through which culture survives and traditions are handed down. So I make videos about Games, Lore, History, Mythology, and most of all the history and mythology handed down by my family for over 100 generations!

Not true I have faries tinkerbells and gnomes fae in my home and I’m in America 🇺🇸 Fairies are shapeshifters they can be whatever you expect. I didn’t even believe in fairies but I have them. And dryads I also film the orbs and UFOs 🛸 The fae accommodate the culture they are at but they are a universal consciousness. Every culture on the people planet has fae they just call em something different.
Making a guide to mythological humanoids and getting confused on the terms and definitions and classifications I keep finding in the fae/fay/faery/fairy/pixie/sprite category. Just trying to figure out what is classified as what what fits into what umbrella or what makes something that or not that and a system I can actually comprehend.
I've looked up info on Camelot because I had a dream I was walking along London bridge and I stopped at a 45 degree angle to look at the river, suddenly the Thames parted and a mini version of a city was revealed, and the name Camelot was spoken.. So Camelot is associated with gathering troops for a battle, well England certainly is in trouble, and they say Arthur returns when this happens.. I'll say no more 👍
I like the idea of a goddess who ensures you're suffering "enough" pain - "Oh, a hangover is it? Head ache? Bad Guts? That feeling you've been punched and kicked in your legs and ribs all night? Nice, huh? Well, that's not enough. Here, have some diarrhea too. That should make it right." ... in fact, I think I've met her... a few times...
The real story of the werewolves started with my family the Irish Quigley’s and it started with my tale that goes back to 1563 that was my birth when on the way to a GP at the time the northern Quigleys (my mother in particular) were attacked by a group of wolves and was said the alpha was a particular large one bigger than most men. Needless to say my mother died but I survived was raised with my 7 brothers but by age 14-15 I started to Chang and asvtime went I watched generations of my family Parrish and outta the hundreds of children I’ve had I finally have another that has my lineage my youngest Joey Aiden. All I can pray for now is peace will be given soon because the curse will continue with him……. I felt I should tell my short tale to the internet for just my gratification. For so as you well with this tale but if I was to elaborate my 461 year life to you all for one the length would be astounding and secondly the wars and adventures I have seen and indulged in would astound you all. The belief in afterlife came from dreams people with dream about people who were actually already dead and they would see them in their dreams so the dream world must be where the dead are when people dreamed about hunting with their dead loved ones so they started burying their weapons and their things cuz they figured that you must need these things on the other side too so they started burying their dad with their things that they needed in this life
Actuality witchcraft was practiced in ancient Rome and all the older religions before Christianity was even thought of Sumerian Egyptian that's where all this witchcraft comes from

I hope you understand, that Kalevala is very much pseudo folklore curated by Elias Lönnrot. Not to say it necessarily diminishes the value of Kalevala.
Certainly, it's not terribly different from the Eddas, or the collections by Asbjørnsen and Moe, or the Grimm brothers. And even Metamorphoses by Ovid. These are academic attempts to linearize and canonize cultural folklore and stories. These documents are still incredibly important, as in many cases they're all academia, and sometimes humanity, has to reference back to these things. But they are not necessarily representative of the broader culture and stories. Most often when I share stories they are ones I learned as a boy from my grandfather and from other traditional storytellers. I am certainly not here to sway opinion or convince anyone of truth any way, I just tell the stories as they have been told to me. Whether from books or other storytellers. I appreciate your candor 🙏
When 2 cultures collide (or conquer each other) it is common for the most widely accepted traits survive and create a synthesis. While I do agree that Odin is more of a path versus a worship. I'm Hellenistic polytheist and treat the gods as aspects. And as long as an aspect has a place in the human mind, it has power. So, if people feel like they are talking to Odin and it makes them strive to be better, it doesn't matter to me what used to be done. If you know that this video is going to piss people off, it's because you also know that prayers make people happy. So, you are messing with people's happiness for historical accuracy of a way of life that is no longer possible. The religion evolved with the times and mindset of the people. Just let them be happy and do their harmless prayers. 🫤
I would say that's a mostly fair criticism. I was very aware that this would make people angry, and that prayers make people happy. I take no issue with people praying, nor worshipping however they like. I do take issue with telling people that if they pray to Odin he will let them into Valhalla. Because that does not align with the historical beliefs of the people. Now, if once you know the truth of it you still wish to pray to Odin in the hopes he'll let you into Valhalla, I take no issue with that. Believe what you like, being properly informed. No one ever likes to have their roots challenged, especially religiously. But if your happiness hinges on a half-truth or a lie, it's going to be frail and flimsy in any case. If you know what was historically believed and you still wish to believe a certain way, because it makes you happy, that's your prerogative. I tell stories. Some of which people may have never heard, because they are passed down through family tradition, and there's no shortage of people happy to tell me to bugger off and die for not saying that the academic versions of these tales are the only ones, and that is their right to do so. I am stout of heart in what I know and believe because it is lived. I did know this video would make SOME people angry, and the warning was for regulars in my Tavern to understand they need not engage negatively with anyone who gets upset. Because while SOME people did get angry, many appreciated the frankness and clarification. Happiness is important, peace is better. But peace can only exist in a space where opinions are respected, and conversation can be had without fighting. Happiness is fleeting, and consistency is king in my opinion. I don't expect you, or anyone, to agree with me. I share stories, truths, and perspectives, as they are handed to me. The Tavern is just a place for stories. You don't have to listen, you don't have to believe, you don't have to stay, you just have to be respectful when you're here(no spoke to you specifically, just a general rule for all patrons). I had one a long time ago, but it has probably been pulled down, we're redoing a bunch of stories because some had awful audio and were not very good. But at this request I'll make sure we have something out in the next month or so
I feel so grateful I found your channel. This is knowledge I never knew or would have found, I can’t believe the knowledge that was taken from my family due to colonization, but thank you for being generous with your clan’s stories.
I think every previous generation is destined to fall into obscurity, some animals die leaving behind only bones, and some are forgotten all together. I don't know that it is fear necessarily that drives things into obscurity as much as it is time and it's relentless march on us all.
So, do you suppose the fey went extinct? I have had a few experiences with fey creatures. My family comes from the MacAodh clan and definitely has roots in it. So I dom't suppose they are extinct. But they do seem fearful of Christianity. So I am trying to figure out what power it holds over them. I don't suppose they are demons, but something else, perhaps in between.
The green man is such a primal idea I think it could have multiple independent emergences. Trees and forests are Awesome so to believe there is some personification of that Awesome thing sounds like a good thing to believe. That's wholly independent of other cultural markers. It's a pretty universal belief. As it should be. It's the primal belief that trees and forests are powerful and we should not piss them off. If only we'd heeded the warning. Stupid apes that we are.
