Born and lived in Catherine Street on the 'nice side of the Market'! LOL! A real community of neighbours with nothing but decency and friendship.

It's referring to the Brighton bomb at the hotel when Maggie Thatcher was attending the Tory party conference and she survived.

Is the Markets an area? Or is it just a market? Sorry don't mean to sound like a dumb twat. Great historical footage this, is it done on cinifilm? What years is it with the soldiers moving the barricades? Early seventies looking at the guns? SLR's still. Is it a mixed area? Or was it pre 69? Thanks for going to the trouble of putting this up. Nice people the Irish. Kind and generous nature like us Northern English. Especially the lady talking about the cows!! Quality.

My dad was brought up by the markets.he lived most of his life in England.but as children we loved listening to his stories.his name was Micky Blake.his brothers Marty.Gusty.Barney.john. Geordie.Paddy and sister Lizzy Blake all now passed away and my dad 2 years ago aged 83..but it brings me a lot of comfort to hear the accent and see "back home" as he always said in film..I'm from the Martin Blake/ Maggie Magee family and searching for any pics or films with relative in..God Bless Belfast

They were all very good people and would help each other no matter what it was,, Don’t forget that there wasn’t much about for anyone but these carricters helped each other out and you could not beat that,, Most are all dead and gone now,,, God bless each and every one of them,, The markets area was a very close community and they all survived either way,,, But just think about the Times when the troubles was at its worst))) These people have been tru very hard times back then,,, We used to live in the friendly street and gas works and few other places in the markets back then ((( I really enjoyed this documentary about the best people ever to survive with nothing only the clothes on there backs
