This also happens if you have 2 or 1 life. If you have 4 life -- any amount of life greater than 3, really -- you'll still take the 3 damage, but you won't instantly lose.
aaa super cool vid! i have an animal theme tayam deck and was looking for more inspiration, your plant take is awesome maybe you're repurposing this onto a Necrobloom deck now that it exists? lmao it even is in the same colors
Nice to see a review focused on the fun of it. Oh good catch on Etherium Pteramander! I totally missed then when i reviewed them. Sneaky 2 mana 5/5 flyer.
I'm glad you like the fun rankings! It is something I wish more people did. Obviously fun is super subjective, but a power ranking of commanders, at least to me, defeats the purpose of the format. I play EDH/PDH to hang out with friends and have wild ass plays. When I want to spike the hell out of something, I play limited, 60-card Magic, or more often, entirely different TCGs such as Flesh and Blood or Lorcana.
Don't want to be rude but this deck is weaker than most precons or any serious budget build. It's lacking ramp, the "card advantage" isn't netting an advantage, removal is minimal and most importantly: it barely has any playable cards since most cards are there for cycling and not worth playing out. On top, a major part of the budget is spend on a single card that doesn't win you the game or synergizes with the deck overall.
Animar is such a cool Commander card. I recently got myself a deck similar to this, but without the Patchwork Automaton and the like cards. Will for sure take some inspiration from your decklist to use in mine :) Thanks!
Thalisse is really good in this deck. You can sacrifice a bunch of creatures to your commander, create blood tokens and get 1/1s EOT that you can sacrifice to your commander next turn, nesting you a bunch of blood tokens each round.
Just starting the video. But as someone returning who used to play standard. All the sets out right now confuse me a bit lol. I guess I'll get caught up.
Nesting ground? Cheap, and says move a counter from target permanent you control onto another target permanent, which reads like any, not just one you control? Put finality counters on other people's cards?
Fully acknowledging that she's baby's first enchantment Commander, Sythis always just feels good. Play cards to get more cards is always good. Love Danitha tho
I play gluntch as a selesnya treasures deck with cards like old gnawbone, bootlegger's stash, and smothering tithe (of course) and it's pretty powerful
@BRBMTG hehe. That set really taught me that more people should watch the movies, including several youtubers. 😅 Also, you said (and i agree with you) that you dont want conditional fogs, but you put a couple up higher. Overall, I'd rank all of these pretty similarly. I hadn't even heard of some of them.
You've missed Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos. One of my favourite decks I own. Topdeck manipulation and damage multipliers are really fun. Mana hungry at times, but quite explosive.
I sure did! I fixed the issue of missing some commanders going forward. I'll have to release a revised edition as new sets come out so I'll make sure to get them in on the next one :)
I do play Arahbo and Kyler. With Arahbo, I do have a bias, since I love cats, so there's that. I do feel like it is on the lower end of "busted Eminence". A lot of the cats are on the lower end, so the +3/+3 makes up for that a bit, but the wider you go, the less it really helps. Also, it's nice to have a home for _just_ cats. Not sure why, but it seems like a large number of the cat cards are focused around equipment, which I didn't really want to do with mine. Kyler is really fun. There is lots of good human tribal support, and making your humans insanely huge with cards like Invigorating Surge, where you put a +1/+1 counter on him, then double the number of +1/+1 counters on him, never gets old. Out of curiosity, I checked edhrec, and only 4% of Kyler decks are running Invigorating Surge!? Say Kyler has 3 counters on him when you cast this. It goes from 3 to 4 to 8. For 3 mana, instant speed, you just gave your entire board an additional +5/+5. Instead of Kudo being "kinda fun", he should have been put in "bearly fun". ... Now I'll sit back and wait for the Dimir video to defend Yuriko 😅
As someone who has actually built a Karametra deck, I can confirm it feels great when the deck just explodes. Its not just ramping. As I have built it, there's landfall triggers for Karametra's fetches (or any other of the deck's many land plays). There's also enchantresses/enchantment matters. With almost everything in the deck triggering something else, its easy to insta-board and win out of nowhere.
Great video! Blessed respite can even protect you from thassa's oracle if that opponent has enough cards in graveyard to shuffle back into their library
I am looking into building The Necrobloom and Azlask, the Swelling Scourge. It would be awesome if you did builds on those two. Also, looking at Imskir Iron Eater as well.
I will never forget Prof allowing and enouraging Kyle to roll-back a play so Kyle could cast his Feather commander efficiently, only for prof to immediately counter it 🤣
My first thought when I pulled Breaker of Creation was damn my PDH pod will never be the same. I really like Copycrook as well. Cursed Wombat is awesome.
