Astonishing power just from the mainsail alone - better than any other catamaran I have sailed, but a couple of critical observations - if that is ok? The sliding bimini top prevents full access to the lazy bag. This may be a nice sales feature but it is impractical when the boat is being use to actually sail. Further, as with other Excess catamarans - the davits do not hold the dinghy (even worse with an engine attached) high enough out of the water in anything other than benign sea conditions. Also the helm seat backs need secondary safety lines behind them. I would hate to see the company sued in the future because a helmsman’s seat failed and they fell overboard never to be seen again.
I like Excess catamarans a lot but I have two quite significant concerns having sailed on both 11’s and 14’s… 1) the installed davit system seems to be incompatible for sailing in anything but quite benign sea states as you are likely to lose the dinghy outboard or indeed both the dinghy and the outboard in anything other than a mild sea state. 2) I actually love the rear helm position but I think that the helm seats will at some point become a hazard to life as they will ultimately fail either through rust, or through UV degradation of the fabric and there is no secondary safety line behind the seat to prevent a person falling overboard. Don’t get me wrong - I really do like these boats - but having sailed on a few of them, the two points noted are (in my opinion) design faults that need addressing and particularly the helm seat issue as this could become a product liability issue in years to come.

Il est bien beau ce cata, dommage que ce soit encore un bateau prévu pour les possesseurs de monocoques qui veulent tenter l'expérience du cata et qui veulent être assis sur les jupes pour naviguer ! Pour un trip d'une semaine ou un voyage dans les mers chaudes cela peut-être supportable, mais pour un tour du monde ou les mers plus froides, c'est une autre histoire... Comme les nautitec, ce sont des bateaux qui oublient qu'un très grand nombre de marins sont en cata depuis longtemps et qu'hormis les irréductibles qui n'en démordront jamais on sait tous qu'il est nettement plus agréable d'être en demi-fly ou en avant du mat et surtout d'avoir la possibilité de barrer à l'abri. Dommage, vraiment, car sinon j'irai voir ce bateau...
Je trouve votre film de présentation génial ! Cela change de certaines autres pubs du groupe Bénéteau ! - Vous montrez que l'on ne fait pas que de la voile en croisière (running, kite, visite, ...) - La femme n'est pas juste là pour regarder son conjoint barrer (elle fait du kite, fait la cartographie) (oui, c'est extrêmement dommage de dire cela mais ce n'est pas une évidence pour tous les films de présentation de bateau en 2022) - Vous montrez la technique du bateau (zoom sur le winch électrique, ...) - Vous montrez une navigation de nuit. Je trouve que votre film de présentation mets particulièrement en valeur le bateau en montrant les activités réalistes que l'on peut faire en l'achetant ! On dirait un film résumant une croisière ! Un grand Bravo Bonne continuation
This is an amazing offering. Especially for its size. The gentleman’s English was extremely good for someone who’s native tongue was, I’m guessing French. This is a serious contender for our retirement purchase to sail the world.
