Tbh 2nd gens are good work trucks but another good work truck is a 1975-1985 Chevy Squarebody really reliable tough transmissions and transfer cases and reliable and good power motors like a 305 or 350 and they were cheap depending on the trim level they were also good work trucks but I do love my dodges don't get me wrong they are cool.
