After looking for this thing and wondering why i couldnt find it, i finally found out they are outnof business since 2020. I have no idea why this is even uploaded as the device is defunct due to their servers being shut down.
I only see snakes in town or on popular trails. I have never seen a snake bushwhacking through the remote desert in Arizona. I still wear snake proof boots because I hike in areas that don't have trails often with taller grass and rocks.
Smart Halo no longer trading. Lots of people backed the "NEW" Halo 2 only to find the items they shipped were ALL FAULTY and could not get them replaced. UK Backers never even received their product And the Halo app, no longer connects to servers OVER CA$1.6m raised and they liquidated
To anybody still looking at getting one of these ......... DON'T Whilst this was a great investment for cyclist, at the time, the company behind it failed miserably The original Smart Halo worked and was sold worldwide. The company then decided to bring out Smart Halo 2. Which boasted a whole list of new upgrades. And was released, like the original, on Kickstarter The test kits sent out were faulty, and testers were promised the finished items would be of the standard expected of such a quality item. Then Covid hit ALL contact with the company ceased. The odd update was released stating production delays and such. But no actual information was ever released. 18mths after the last "official" update released, backersd received an email stating the firm behind Smart Halo and Smart Halo 2 had gone into liquidation and shut down. This included all access to the Smart Halo Servers and Software Backers lost approx CA$1.6M The original Smart Halo is now nothing more than a Horn and Light source
I got both. MY SmartHalo2 was great (for the few weeks I could use it). Really sad they are just unusable now. Not only because of the money but also there is no competition afaik. Beeline seems to go in that direction but at a way lower budget level
And now the company has gone out of business, they deleted their websites, support and everything, and we are now left with a very expensive paperweight :-/
It will NEVER work. When the company liquidated, everything about the HALO and HALO 2 went with it BOTH Halo and Halo 2 need to connect to the servers in order to operate properly They do this via the APP on your phone. The APP cannot connect as the servers no longer exist Those who did receive a version of the Halo 2, received the PRE-Market release Which is basically the beta version, and therefor "FAULTY" version Basically, now you are left with a glorified Horn and Light

There is one even more serious issue: My Smarthalo2 worked fine for one week, then it rained and the SH2 was not waterproof. It never worked again. They sen tme a new one (great customer service!) in just two weeks. But guess what? The new one failed again after one rainy night. I am very sorry, I really liked it a lot.
Horrible Device for 2021 and it even has not Find me or something other. The software is not finish, and they are a year from improvements away, the just push out the BASIC functions
I had asked SH about being able to turn it off (e.g. for taking it off the bike in sketchy areas and putting it into my backpack) and they said they are working on a sort of "airplane mode" for a future release but not any time soon unfortunately...
It's funny, that you came to the same conclusion... When I started backing SH 1 I thought, what a great idea for bike navigation... When SH came up with their updated product, I backed it up again, simply because I guess I'm a little tech nerd. Unfortunately, Covid-19 slowed not only to slow down the production and shipping of the devices but resulted in my search for alternatives for bike navigation like 'Komoot'. Getting used to cycle in the vicinity of the place I live, I have found the advantages of of tour planning, that I can edit before the ride, while riding, that is accurate in the distance behind and many other features like how long my tour will take to reach my destination... And then SH 2 came a few days ago... Hmhm... I love the design, the mounting of the bracket was easier than at SH 1, I love the coloring for signaling the directions but trying to get the device off the bracket resulted in a material failure... though the magnet key was in the right position. So what am I do do with my SH 2? I guess, it will be a gimmick, if I don't use my phone for bike riding through the landscape... I fear, that SH has been overrun by time and biking apps like 'Komoot' for example... I wonder, how SH will manage to challenge these changes.
The last I heard as an ent, they say don't apply a constricting ban above the wound any more. I think if it's a wet bite (poison injected), the patient will experience swelling and severe pain within 5 min. or so. I agree, hiking with a stick is a great idea. And making noise. While hiking over the years I have come across active rattlesnakes every month of the year when the weather was warm so heads up, thanks for the video.
