The New Trombone Collective consists of 9 creative, virtuosic and ambitious trombonists, who have mastered to a high level both their instruments and the art of ensemble playing. Every 2 years they organize the Slide Factory Trombone Festival.
I've been enjoying the choral music of Eric Whitacre since I first heard "Sleep" performed in 2003. Here, an octet of trombones gives brilliant and beautiful expression to that same work. Many, MANY thanks, NTC!
Absolutely amazing. Loved each solo -great playing but not overdone and what ensemble work. Interestingly recorded in Rotterdam. I'd like to know if there are any American players in there or all European. I also love WDR Big Band (Germany) and Orchestra Metreoplol (Netherlands) -also big band playing at its best and not too much high screaming trumpets like the Yanks (which drives me nuts)
He’s just done it so many times he’s going to the opposite end of how’s he’s done it in the past to be cheeky. I like the way he did it on the alubm long time ago but that’s how everyone does it.
Amazing performance, but if you're looking for something without all the "hamming it up", you should hear Alain Trudel's version here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1yInurwaVnI.html Very clean performance and some cool multi-phonics near the end.
