I had no idea what "album" this was on, (description box), but I know this was on my radio in Ontario, growing up. Nice to remember Canadian made music, in a time when mainstream music actually made sense...and poetic also. ("trying to draw the line of who you are and who you invent", that line is so right on)... ...this fruit of Leonard's, did not fall far from him. Obviously. ...nor did his genes...and he looks good in both. lol. God bless you Adam, more than you think you already are!
May you have encouragement to write and make another album. Perhaps its not my place to suggest anything here, but I will anyway...please don't take offence to anything said here, just a September (18th) baby, trying to reach out to another September 18th baby! lol. Also Canadian too! It must be hard to constantly hear comparisons all the time?, but you have a legacy all your own, to leave to your children. No pressure, just truth. If you need inspiration, just look to the source that your dad and others have always drawn from, life and the human condition. Ultimately God, but many do not believe He is Real, and inspiring. Canadiana is just one inspiration that we don't seem to have much of anymore. "Canada" seems to be waiting for Canadian musicians to lift her up again. With so many Canadian artists from a long ago generation leaving us, there is an opportunity and an open door awaiting. More inspo (???), your heritage and the plight of the Jewish people as well? - who also need some hope in these dark times...which is what this song has made me contemplate, "going home", the return of the Jewish people to their homeland - Israel. (because it's quite biblical really, not just catchy, but then again, you are a Cohen, and your position in this world is deeper than you know). Again, no pressure. On another note, not sure if these things are actually read by the artists themselves, but someone will read this. It's hard losing an earthly father. This is also something that hits hard and its ok. I know this personally as well. Grieving is an "open book", there is no "closure". King David bore his soul for the world to see...and you have an outlet, your talent as well. People will listen. It would be raw, but real. That is and will always be something to consider as well. Something your dad was keen on, and what makes me believe why he touched so many with, his raw truth. That is a fantastic quality to have. And if you inherited anything, this is some beautiful treasure to behold, the treasure of real, in a world of fake. God bless you Adam (and your sister Lorca)...wherever you may be in the world today, I hope this finds you and your family in optimism and encouragement. You are never alone, even in your solitude.
Music is good. Great voice but video & message is poor & totally detracts from the song. Adam clearly has talent but he's chosen the wrong path with this vid.
Yes, I thought the music video's story was out of step with the tone of the song, and it made Adam look like a bad guy! Not sure why they chose that direction
