Is it helpful to use compression socks as I start to wear walking shoes again? I am approaching week 6

My husband has this only it’s been 4 years with it now, he takes 3-5 Advils every day to deal with the swelling and pain, doctors continue to say he needs custom orthotics, we’ve purchased several and they haven’t fixed it. He does pop his joints and he can pop that joint 100 times if need be. What would you suggest he do next or what type of physician should we be seeking? Thank you for your information

I have a 5th metatarsal mid shaft spiral oblique fracture. I broke it on April 13 2024, in an air cast boot when mobile, without when resting. Had a second X-Ray two weeks later as I missed a step in my air boot and stomped hard down on that foot. X-Ray looked the same as if I broke it that day. My issue is before missing the step and stomping down hard, I was able to walk on part of my foot, no nerve issues and after hurting it again I have been having nerve issues, I have electrical shocks going through my toes, I can’t feel my fourth toe and my pinky toe is not touching the ground anymore. Surgeon I seen didn’t really listen to my concerns of nerve pain. Should I seek a second opinion about my concerns with nerve issues and my pinky toe not touching the ground anymore?

Initially, I didn't realize the severity and didn't seek immediate treatment. After three weeks, an MRI confirmed the fracture, and my orthopedic recommended a two-week arm sling. How serious is this damage, and is a three-week delay in seeking treatment considered significant for healing? Your insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!"

How long a mid shaft fracture take to heal

This is crazy! If I have a fracture how am I supposed to move my foot and do exercises? Is it not better to wait till the bone heals and the hard callus is formed?

This hasn't dated well since we found out it was all a hoax.

Thanks for the information, it give me hope that my bone will heal. I've been immobilised for 51 days or 7 weeks now still wearing a cast. I know that everyone has its own healing time because it depends on the bone itself but I wish I can walk very soon.

I moved my foot to fast and it cracked furthermore. I was informed no weight bearing and wear the boot as much as possible. No exercises at the moment. So on what week number should exercises start? I have the mid shaft fifth metatarsal 70-80% broken.

This video is not bad at all. However, at 61, it kind of works differently to those who are 25.Still got discomfort after 3 months, still got numbness in middle toes as well. Impact and running is still a no go, but cycling is viable. Swimming is oddly more uncomfortable, but doable. Walking 3 miles is fine, 5 miles and it stings a bit. The bit about wearing your normal shoes. Er, no. You might get them on in the morning, but you might not get them off until the next morning. A lot of it is down to your mental approach though. Your body will try to adapt, just bloody slowly in your sixties.

BS. 3 mo and still no healing. The first ortho gave the same advice as these folks. The second opinion ortho surgeon said they offer surgery right away due to extremely high rates of nonunion. The point is, I wish I was told to not bear weight for the first 4 or so weeks. Now I have to have surgery w a bone graft. DONT FOLLOW THIS ADVICE.

Nice video but u can't do those exercises right away. I was told to not do anything but wiggle toes for 6 weeks to let the bone heal. Plus the sprained ankle is very sore as well. How to manage those 6 weeks would be helpful. The other side of my body is taking a beating

My 5th metacarpal is oblique fracture, 10weeks back, and i wore a splint for 6weeks, 3weeks back back splint is removed, till now fractured line visible on x -ray, can i use my hand general purposes like eating food, typing computer......

This video has kept me sane for the last 4 weeks. I just got cleared to put weight through as pain allows. My muscles are gone hahah. It is hard to find any info on these as all the info is regarding the lower part of the bone. My doctor says the polar opposite of this video though. Had me non weight bare for 4 weeks. Then 4 weeks as tolerated then out of the boot. We will see with time
