This could the beginning of the end , I am in Thailand since 2014 , unfortunately I have seen that the low quality of tourist coming in Thailang increase dramatically over the past years. Extended visa , cheap flight, cheap alcool etc ,,, open the windows for more coming trouble.
Thanks ben not enough info.to comment, maybe the guy who sadly died instigated it,if it was self defence i think he may have coperatd, who knows, was there witnesses?keep us updated if you can, regards.
I suspect the inference of the 'notorious Pattaya sex industry' is that the assault is related to a sex worker dispute which it may well have been. All too often news reporting is more about sensationalism than fact based journalism. That said let's face the reality that Pattaya is a magnet for a minority of problematic, if not sociopathic, tourists.
The bad behaviour by these clowns is all bcos of their huge disappointment. They were cocksure that their white privilege will get them all the free pusi they want. They become aggressive when they realised only paid pusi is available. It's the same for all Asian countries. They start bitching about the country when their white privilege won't work.
Yes it is but it is not enforced. Police make official statements regularly saying that it doesn't exist. Gambling is the same, illegal but happening everywhere.
For the record, I mean no disrespect. Thailand has robust manufacturing and agricultural industries, but the sex work sector of the economy is an international business and reason many people travel for the "One night in Bangkok" experience.
Seeing as how one's ability to reside in Thailand is based upon their financial wellbeing, which can diminish, it leaves one feeling insecure in the long-term. Being perpetually labeled an outsider adds to that feeling. In their defense, I understand that if foreigners were allowed to purchase property Thailand would become southern China.
"Moments after the alcohol takes hold! stupidity will be bold! more than a few do believe so say some, some stupid you can't believe, still men who lack a personal code! fool's gold will be sold! leaving the fool out in the cold, a cautionary tale as this one unfolds"
As both the Punchee & Puncher were foreign nationals, and the Thai Govt obtained financial advantage from the Puncher immediately prior to the incident in the form of "Whisky Tax" which is in fact, legalized drug dealing, I think it would be appropriate for the Thai Govt to pay the Punchee's family in Australia or the UK compensation.💋✌
PS maybe they need rules that bars can’t serve overly drunk people. Only drunk people spend more so is the vicious cycle. We want your money but not your problems. Together creates the problems 😢
I came to Thailand many years ago (American), loved it, got married, built a home and have been here ever since 2012. And it really makes me angry every time I see foreigners behaving badly. It seems like they think just because they are here and make more money than most Thai people they can do anything they like. To me, it is zero respect for Thailand and its people and I am sick and tired of seeing it. I wish the Thai police would crack down hard on these type of individuals that would send a message to others to not act so badly. And from what I see, it usually happens in and around Pattaya. Now just imagine a casino being placed there, if you think it is bad now...
Thailand is already very protectionist. No matter how long you live there, you're still a foreigner. Checking in every 3 months is a constant reminder. They like foreigners... with money...
Agree 100%. As an expat myself, this disgusts me and yes, it seems to be mainly in the Pattaya area. But then, what would one expect with all the bars, working girls, etc. I see videos almost every day about problems in the Pattaya area.
I now live in Thailand I don’t drink I don’t smoke weed and I respect the Thai way of life and especially the Thai people as I want to be treated! I greet those in everyday in there language and I thank them for anything I buy off them in there language and ask them if they are also okay! It’s nice to be nice !
Cannabis deaths whahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah That was funny. The plan is to make sure we die young. Cannabis won't do that so ban it. Best we keep smoking ice, cigarettes and drinking whiskey. The number of alcohol consumers went down drastically in the uS states where Cannabis is legalized. That is the problem. Lobbyists.. It's not even for loss of revenue...They can esaily tax cannabis too. It is lobbyists who have promises made to them and WHO advice to keep us drinking so we will not be able to cash in our (NON EXISTANT) retirement funds en masse.
Relax people. Fiat paper or coins represents only 10% of monetary mass. Don't pretend those 10% are protecting your privacy and you are fighting for the salvation of privacy. If you are so concerned by privacy, do you all use a VPN ? Do you never use wifi in a public space ? Did you throw away you credit card (s), which obviously support the largest transactions and tell about your travels ? Let's hope those banknotes and coins will remain but don't confuse the forest for the tree. And now a little quiz : what money is cashless and protects your privacy at the same time ?
No I don't think it has any negative connotation. Hate to break it to you I really think the U.S. is the only place where people would care to use cash at the expense of their convenience. And the U.S. has horrible payments infrastructure compared to other countries. Look at any Thai under the age of ~35. They're never using cash. Why would they? The digital payments infrastructure in Thailand is one of the best in the world, can send money in 1 second to your friends, seamless integrations between apps. Any street vendor will accept promptpay. Go to other ASEAN countries, and many vendors will only accept QR pay, cash is not accepted. It's not the 80s anymore, you can't just gloss over these things as if they don't matter. No, I don't want to fish out a credit card to manually type in my number onto a website to buy something. And most people in Asia don't want to either. Keep preaching by all means I just think a lot of it falls on deaf ears, or is heard by the expat crowd which isn't very representative of the society in any country. A country's infrastructure when it comes to something as important as payments shouldn't be held back by a few people from a past generation. And fortunately I don't think it will be. Times have changed. You can cry 'communist' all you want but the payment apps in China are what has inspired the apps in Thailand, because they're better than cash or any western fintech by miles. Probably less than 10% of people in any country care to use cash if there is a more convenient alternative. If you really don't like these centralized apps, there is crypto. No reason to go back to the bronze age here.
We are having a problem in our condo. The thing is that most of the apartments are owned by one Thai family and they do whatever they want, meanwhile we have to follow the rules they make. Has anyone had this kind of problem?
I enjoy your channel and the great information you supply however in briefing 101 please begin with defining acronyms and subject matter so listeners can follow along easier. Thank you for all you do.
What part of the world economic forum covid was planned. This is planned but we can stop all this stuff don't bring the western World customs into Thailand
Isn't it a little too late for this warning? Ever since the Prompt Pay has been invented. I rarely ever use real money anymore. Even here in the countryside of Surin, even the talad vendors hangs the QR Code on their table.
Yeah it's not just that... two days ago I was trying to use Promptpay in the market and it didn't work. My bank app was having problems. I didn't have any cash - just put off getting more out. So I went to the ATM - I went to four different ATM before I found one that would work. They deal with teh same fragility the entire system is built on. What's the answer ? Stuffing mattresses with cash ?
