There has only been one scene in recent years that’s scared me so much as an adult it gave me nightmares. While it’s a game I strongly suspect and believe it’s based on those scene here. Back in 2014 I played Wolfenstein The New Order. In the beginning you’re tasked in a F-Day style lab assault. But soon you’ll see something thats straight out of Overlord X Frankenstein’s Army / Doom. You get trapped in a medical room / furnace (bc they’re Not Seas, duh why else wud they have the two in one?!). Dr. Deathshead forces you to pick 1/2 friends as you’re all pinned by Übersoldatens… … …you briefly see your actions and subsequent consequences (tho they don’t release that much of a chain of events. Aside from armor/health upgrades there’s no difference. ZERO to the story at large). You don’t see the full force, the full weight until the endgame of the story. There you’re ambushed by Dr. D again. A conveyor machine filled with jars w/ brains swivel up. He grabs one and it’s your old friend. He’s perfectly preserved somehow. In the tenish years leading up to this, he was in eternal pain, a dark abyss like The Empty in Supernatural. But aware. The it flashes back. Dr. D cut your friends eyes out in front of you. You’re friend is forced onto a steel slab and a machine activates. Several scalpels cut into him with needles pulling apart tissue. A crude drill / grinder cuts into the skull, and the brain is suctioned into a jar with such force it’s removed from the spinal column. He then placed the jar into a machine. And it attacks you. A fight ensues. But that’s not the worst of it all. Turns out he’s been aware the whole time. Forced to fight. He asks, begs for release. And with your sci-fi cutter gun, you alleviate his pain. You even hear the squish. That gave me nightmares at the age of 24(ish) for a month or so. Far worse the Cain imo…
