Here is a suggestion if you are interested! When he is picky anout foods let him see you eating them. Let him sit on you and see you eat things you want him to try. Monkeys tend to always want what they see you eat. Baby monkeys who are reared by their mothers learn to eat foods by watching their moms eat something!😊

These are the most hyper and difficult to keep. Emotionally complex highly intelligent he will drive you nuts and no matter what you do you cannot give him what he needs what has been taken from him so you will have a depressed hyper and eventually aggressive monkey for 30 years.

Sounds about the same as a parent of a non verbal special needs child. They can be highly intelligent but hard to please. As a parent you try and try to no avail….thankfully you don’t give up just because someone you don’t know, who offers zero help….a basic stranger tells you how challenging this job you’ve chosen is going to be!!! If so, sanctuaries…. I mean orphanage’s would be full of hyper, emotionally complex, highly intelligent babies that have been given up on. @swanofusk9314, best wishes and have a wonderful day!

I've always wondered if they would react better to a shower. I had a dog that didn't like a bath but also didn't like not being in the shower when i was.
@CaesarTheMonkey.23
@CaesarTheMonkey.23 2 месяца назад
Heyyyy, it’s so funny you say that because, that is how I’ve been giving him his baths (showers) lately. Great minds think alike!!! 🤣He actually closes his eyes like he’s being soothed….no biting or struggling at all. Then I place him in his carrier with a blanket and a towel with the heater going and he’ll burrow in and start drying himself off. I just hadn’t been able to get a video of it. But giving him showers is definitely how I’m able to do it now. My largest dog is the same way….we have to physically pick him up and put him in the tub to wash him alone, but he’ll walk into our shower easier. Looks like I’m going to have to get my husband to play camera man for me. Thank you 😊

My cousin had one of those creatures many years ago, and it BIT me! Why do people want them for pets?
@CaesarTheMonkey.23
@CaesarTheMonkey.23 2 месяца назад
To address your first statement, it’s very unfortunate you were bitten. Not knowing the full extent of what was going on, I can only hope their monkey was up to date on their shots & you weren’t badly injured. Now to address your question….animals have a tendency to bite. Rabbits bite, birds bite, guinea pigs bite, dogs have been known to bite, maul & kill. The first thing their owner will say is it never showed any signs of aggression. If you would have been bitten by a dog, and you saw my dogs in a video, would you then say you had been bitten by a dog before, why do people want them as pets? Aggression in cats is a common behavioral issue. If you had been scratched to the point where there was blood, would you wonder why a person chose to have a cat as a pet? I would never say that my animals don’t bite or would never bite….they are animals and animals sometimes bite because they feel threatened. Sometimes they bite to protect something that is valuable to them, like their food, a toy or their personal space. Animals can’t tell us they’re not feeling well and want to be left alone. I said all that to say this, you have the right to stereotype all monkeys as aggressive due to the one negative experience you mentioned, but I got Caesar for the same reasons people get other animals. Because I wanted him & knew I could take care of him. Thank you for your question because I’m sure there are many who wonder why. I hope I respectfully answered it and addressed your concern.

Baby monkeys desperately want to cling to their mothers, or barring that, anything fuzzy. Depriving them of this makes them panic. I know you mean the best for Caesar but you seem to have no idea about primate psychology and woefully underprepared to take care of him and meet his needs.

So how selfish are you as a dog owner….dogs were domesticated by people. Pretty sure your dog would 🖤🤎 to be free running around. A friend will be awesome for him however in the meantime, especially at his very young age it is SO very important to have him in his cage as little as possible and to be on or around his caregiver as much as is possible. In order to rear a healthy and happy adult squirrel monkey one should emulate the care he would get from his mother as closely as possible!! At this age he would still be frequently clinging to his mom and would never be very far from her physically...close enough that he could access her immediately. I cannot stress how very important this is..of course ideally he would be with his caregiver all day but I realize few people are willing to provide this level of care for them (which is one reason why you will see so many people saying they should not be pets). Of course it won't kill him to have to spend time alone in a cage at this age however for his experience to be as normal as possible and to ensure no abnormal behaviors or habits in the future this is SOO very important. The amount of time he spends alone his cage seems to directly correlate with later behaviors and habits. A lot of this has to do with their normal instincts. A baby monkey clings as a survival instinct. When they are not allowed to do so it causes them stress as instinct tells their body/brain that being left alone means danger/death. A baby monkey is dependent on mom for everything and in the wild alone means death which of course is why those instincts exist! I wish you well and its obvious you all care and are willing to provide him with proper food and enclosures and enrichment which is so much more than many of them get!😊

Although he does wear diapers outside, I've started to let him be more free....he definitely has decorated me #1 & #2....but hey, what are washing machines for...LOL.... @@CaesarTheMonkey.23those animals are domesticated over hundreds or thousands of years. Monkeys are not and cannot be. They are wild animals and being taken so young from the mother means a lifetime of problems emotional and psychological as they are very intelligent and complex you cannot ever give them what has been taken away. They live in social groups or troops they are not wired to live on their own with a human. Around 4 yrs old he will change and become sexually mature. Then he will attempt to dominate you take a dislike to someone a friend or family member and will attack them when they see them. You can never housebreak them so it means 30 years of diaper and rashes. What will happen to him if you die have you made provisions for it?
