Now I don’t have to worry about embarrassing myself in front of the grips. This is awesome Josiah (and team). Such great communication, and dapper as ever.
@dappergaffer loved your content for awhile, I'm on board. Keep up the good work. I'm certain you'll help me in my forays into video. Rented my Nanlites out today on set. Continuing to build
Great video! Are gaffers and theatres not using CRMX with a PC program for a preprogrammed show? I can see this as being useful for pixel mapping, sequences, fades...everything tablet and phone apps lack.
@@SpirosAbatis yes, Lumenair and Blackout are the primary I’ve seen. Although usually on an iPad. Grand MA probably more in live environments or episodic stage shows? As an owner op gaffer - a PC system would be pretty clunky for the type of work a lot of us do
I’ve found them to be about average. But I think where some of the confusion comes from is how you think about it and how the manufacturer sets up the controls for it. For instance, Titan tubes allow you to select how long you want them to run and they simply throttle the brightness to accommodate that runtime. If you set them at maximum brightness (which requires the minimum runtime) they don’t last all that long. With the Pavos, you set the brightness and it tells you how long they will run at that power draw. They will run a very long time for instance if you run them at 1%.
@@djLovelyTime did you read my comment above? They last 20hrs if you significantly throttle the output. At full intensity Titans do not last very long.
Watched. Took notes. Great presentation and coverage of the topic. I've had to learn some of these lessons the hard way, and I really appreciated you taking the time to go over the basics. BTW, sarcasm is my first language too. 37:01
If you have a roll of seamless, you can use a pair of C-stands for this - simply place an arm in each end of the roll. Still, be sure the long leg is in the direction of the load and knuckles are on the right
Nicely done. Great content for beginners and even DPs that sometimes need a little refresh on what everyone else is doing while they are sitting on a comfortable cushioned dolly seat sipping tea. I think I have that same couch.
This was good. Second time watching already. So glad someone finally says it: they’re not light stands! I’m a home studio guy, and we’re the BIGGEST perpetrators here. Also, just discovered Norm’s, when I can afford pro C-stands I think I’m goin with them. Thanks! Anywho, love the content, keep it up! *SUB*
For me, now that the Pavos have Lumenradio - they do everything I need them to do. I can't see myself needing to use Titan's anymore unless production specifically asks for them
Thanks Shirly! It was lovely to meet you at the show. And thank you for the tea! I've been enjoying it drive.google.com/file/d/1C7Gfl-5K6Z7DMTDgMbxrUmNs8GBgCPLZ/view?usp=share_link
Thanks for having me, looking forward to Cine Gear LA… so the Aputure 600d vs 600x at 5600k at 3M is 521fc vs 790fc… so about 1/2 stop (based on their published numbers with hyper reflector)
Coincidental, it happens to be my G&E house color Funny thing is, I didn’t notice it was effectively the same color till we started editing the video 😆
