Dear Sir, I hope this message finds you well. I’ve been following your journey in the dump truck business on RU-vid and have been truly inspired by your success and insights. I obtained my CDL-A license in 2018, but I haven’t utilized it as I was a teacher until recently. I made a quiet exit from teaching due to the constant scrutiny from superiors and the increasing difficulty of the job, despite my love for the students. I am now seeking a career change into the dump truck industry and would greatly appreciate your advice on getting started. Specifically, I am interested in whether I should initially work for a union or non-union company. I’ve seen many trucks on the road and assume there are pros and cons to both. Additionally, I’m curious if it would be wise to gain a year or two of experience before purchasing my own truck and starting my own business. I value being home with my family daily or every other day and want to ensure this career choice supports that goal. Your guidance would mean a lot to me as I look for a positive change and a successful future in this industry. Thank you for your time and advice. Best regards, John
Dump trucks cost $150k used to $300k new. If you don't have work lined up first, you're screwed if you don't have constant loads lined up. Not to mention you first year or two your Insurance cost are much higher being new. Not easy to jump into. You're SUNK if you aren't running loads daily.
I’m in the Dallas tx area I got a kw with a sleeper but trying to get out of the road I can buy the dump trailer for now. Is there anyway you might be able to give me work ? I can go work in Houston tx
Whats good jay, I have a ? But it doesn’t have to do with this video. I’m looking at purchasing a dump truck. What’s the oldest truck you would buy to get started out. I know someone selling a 1975 very well maintained for 8k but I could probably get it for 5k. It was a gentleman from church’s dads. I’m waiting on all the specifics as we speak. East tx!
Great video thanks for your info I’m new in the business just picked up a 2005 T 800 KW. Going to purchasing another one in a week or two. Any suggestions regarding tri-axles used year and model automatic transmission. Thanks again brother ! Tommy from Yonkers New York. Westchester Area.
Hi , I was wondering when it comes to the dump truck I buy , does a nice newer looking truck matters ? I mean a $130K vs a $50k truck . Do brokers and companies look at that ? As far as money ? Does a newer nicer looking truck make more ?
