The de-ox I have is "ilsco utilco DE-OX inhibitor petroleum base. For all aluminum and/or copper terminations." It's for electrical panels. Will this work? Also, can some BW-100 work in place of the liquid you use at the end? It's electrical contact cleaner.
Anyone done this successfully with an elite series 2 and had it last for more than a couple days? Im wondering myself if a thicker ring around the stick would help it to not be able to gain as much momentum to begin with.
this did absolutely nothing. it was worth the shot, but nothing changed in my pro con. for a short time it actually backfired, making my toggles stick, although that fixed itself fairly quickly. long story short, it doesn't work, but it doesn't hurt, either, so i guess this is worth a try
hello! do u know if u could do this on a controller with hall effect sensors? i have an 8bitdo ultimate and i really like it, but it has terrible snapback
So long as the stickbox is the same. The hall effect sensors should be just on the side like the potentiometers are on the normal thumbstick. So long as that arrangement is the same, should be good to go.
i got into an argument with people removing salamanders from cecret lake once and they lied saying that 3 were allowed per person to be caught. i spoke with a ranger later that day and they said no - it is illegal to remove any salamander from cecret lake or national/state forest.
12 year old video Used this method on my DS Lite and it worked amazingly My DS Lite had a broken top screen so I've been playing gba games so it's nice to have these buttons back Thank you so much (I actually used a microfiber and IPA, soaking both buttons then spamming them.)
Just wanted to mention I did this on an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller and it worked perfectly. Hardest part was getting the controller open. It’s only been a couple days so I’ll try to update later to note any issues. As far as performance, the only remaining issues are due to drift (i didn’t use the contact cleaner so that’s my own fault)
With my personal experience, the mod had great results for the first several months! however, once that time had passed, i began running into issues with the stick inputting a direction while the physical stick itself is centered. i’m assuming with another clean and some fresh fader grease this might be “good as new” but i personally switched to arcade all digital controllers (boxx) for smash bros melee ✨ FINAL NOTE: WHEN IT WORKED, IT WORKED WELL. WHEN IT DIDNT, THE CONTROLLER WAS UNUSABLE. hope this helps! 🫶🏽
For the Koreans who might be watching... I ordered this from DigiKey and actually applied it. The bounce effect is completely gone. I'll try to comment later on how long it will last.
anyone know if it would work with joycons or GC controllers? is contact cleaner needed or optional as an extra step to fine tune it? and is this a long term fix or do I need to open up the controller often?
Doesn't work well with joycons, but IME they're pretty good at not getting snapback. One of the only good things about them. Contact cleaner is optional, I'm not going to skip on doing the contact cleaner if I have the controller open. Mine's finally getting snapback again, I'd say it took 600+ hours of Smash Bros and Splatoon.
is there a guide of putting the controller back together? everywhere I checked on the web and discord advice didn't seem to help. The blue ribbon keeps falling out and I can't seem to lock it in place@@chainmaillekid
do you think it would work on a dualshock 4 v2? thats the only controller i have and i quit learning rivals of aether because of snapback problems even though i really like the game because it made it borderline unplayable also, do you think it alters a lot of the thumbstick feeling or is it a minor change? thanks in advance :)
Some people are saying this is illegal to do but it’s really not. They are not axolotl’s. They are called mud puppies they look identical in their larva state collecting axolotl‘s is illegal in most states, unless you have a permit, this guy did not collect anything illegal. If it was axolotl‘s, it would be a different story, but you can collect tiger salamanders in groups of three daily and nine total.
Great video! I'm curious if this same solution would still work for a GameCube controller? Also for the contact cleaner would you say that is a necessary item for this solution or just something you do just cause why not?
I haven't done it to my gamecube controllers, but it should work the same. And yeah, the cleaner is more something else to do while the controller is open.
thanks for the tutorial! where i live we don't have that specific brand so i'll attempt a fix using non-conductive silicon grease, will update with results soon
1:56 "very importantly it's for conductive..." Why would you use non conductive? My understanding is the entire point is to slightly inhibit the movement while maintaining the electrical continuity the joystick requires to work. The sensors work by sensing differences in voltage. If you put something in there that DOESN'T allow it to sense the voltage, wouldn't that ruin it? Also, he put a link in the description to the product. It says on that page "specifically formulated to improve conductivity and lubricate conductive plastic and carbon compound faders, switches and other mechanisms with sliding surfaces." formulated to improve conductivity. Also, what screws did you mess up? I just took apart multiple controllers to de-solder joysticks and solder new ones back on. Not aware of any screws that would "lock" a controller. Do you mean you stripped the head of one? There's a few ways to fix that. You can grab a drill bit that is the size of the shaft of the screw. Drill into the head of the screw and the head will pop right off, allowing you to take apart the controller. You can then either leave it like that or try to unscrew what's left of the screw with som needle nose pliers. I would just leave it unless it's the screw that holds on the plastic covers on the handles. Another way is to buy a 10-20 dollar micro screw extractor bit set on Amazon. They will easily remove that screw. There's a video on YT called "How to remove small stripped screws | stripped laptop screws | stripped phone screw removal" That will show you different ways to do it. Your controller is not locked.
Tried this and i think the alcohol got into the touch screen, after two days the touch screen isn't working like it used to, like it doesn't respond that well, tapped it couple times and it just bugged, can someone tell me how to fix it please :"((
Quock Question, do you think this could possibly be done to an Xbox Elite 2 controller? The snap back makes some characters in For Honor impossible to play as and was curious how much it affected the priginal feel of the analog stick. I don't mind it being a little bit harder to move but the snap back is such a bother and for a controller this expensive I was curious if the internals of it works simialr to that of the Switch Pro controller you fixed here. Thanks!
@ddumpy I still need to do it to mine, I had reaoldered the RB button back on but javenxt had the biggest click-back on the analog changing up stuff; For Honor is so picky with analog inputs but I feel this might help it all out.
@@SwedishGuitarHero2 For sure. I’m planning on building a fight pad for the fighting games. analog inputs seems to be so picky for a lot of stuff and even the pro-grade stuff seems to have short lifespans and inconsistencies
@ddumpy If something breaks, def suggest learning hoe to reaolder and fix it yourself. The RB button I replaced on my controller is infinitely better than th3 stock Elite 2 bumpers that always seem to die so mega fast.
I was about to discard the fit board when I came across this post. Thank you so much. I did exactly what you suggested, it was a contact issue with the power button, and now works perfectly. Much appreciated and thanks again.
Question here. I was having issues with Snapback so I followed this video to a T, well first time using it I’m now getting drift from both toggles….please help
First thing is to check and see if anything changes if you re-calibrate the sticks. Probably not, but first things first. Second, did you use the deoxit fader grease and not something else? And did you do anything with contact cleaner, or mess with the teal potentiometers at all?
@@chainmaillekid I’m going to recalibrate them in a bit here. Yes I used the two links from your video description. Didn’t touch the potentiometers at all. Did use the contact cleaner that you used also. Just followed your video in very fine detail.
The grease doesn't dry out. Grease is made up from oil and thickeners, there is a chance that the oil can separate from the thickeners over a long time, like years. But a good grease can take decades to do that. My controller is still working well. Its loosened up a bit since how it was when I first put in the grease, but its still damping enough to stop springback. No drift or any issues from grease getting into the sensitive bits of the stick box.
@@chainmaillekid Is there a different name other than fader grease, or a common product which does the same work? I really can't find a similar product in my country. What's the requirement for it? Sticky and not conductive?
@@Ian-ne5hz Well, no its more specific than that, and I don't know what all it would be. It probably has to be conductive, but not more conductive than the resistive elements in the sensor. It has to be really thick to dampen the motion, but the thickening agent needs to not be able to interfere with the wiper, so either the particles need to be incredibly small or some other trickery going on. I don't think you will find a product that will work except for products specifically designed for these applications.
@@Ian-ne5hz The sensor for the thumbstick has a metal wiper that moves across a resistive pad, if the grease gets between the wiper and the pad it has to not block the electricity that needs to flow there, while at the same time if its fully conductive it will cause the current to simply bypass the resistive element. It seems to me there's likely to be some conductivity introduced in a very controlled way, and if not that something else pretty special is going on. All I know for sure is that normal silicone grease is di-electric ( non-conductive ), and it doesn't work. It will mess up the sensors if it migrates into them from the stick box.
Can i ask if you seen any flipnote creators whose been deleted. From RU-vid or any sort of big major Social website. Im checking how often this happens. Im looking for one of these guys. He posted old satirical commentaries, back in 2013-2014. (His mascot looks similar to the design of an Asdf character type).
This worked great but now it thinks I’m pressing the shoulder buttons when I’m not (it thinks I’m holding them and it will just randomly do it out of nowhere)
