I wish Apple would just add the feature. I can do this same thing in 4 clicks and 6 seconds in Premiere. It’s a fine editor for quick and easy things but big complex projects I use Premiere or Resolve.
I just bought Final Cut Pro which is at 10.8.1, but I don't have the option of selecting Blu Ray or DVD. I currently don't have a device connected, but I saw you have the option to create the Blu ray to local storage. Has this feature been taken out of FCP?
If you want to edit a homemade DVD in Final Cut Pro on Mac, you can import the DVD video to FCP without using DVD ripping software like HandBrake. Well, if you want import video from a commerical DVD to Final Cut Pro, a much more professional DVD ripper like DumboFab DVD ripper would be a good option.
took me a while to figure out where my mask tool is ( it's in effects controls in a different pannel), but once I did that it was easy! thank you, you saved me from a reshoot.
Thanks for the very clear and relevant explanations and demos. Helped me decide whether to buy Topaz. I'm a pro editor and looking forward to enhancing lots of decades-old footage!
The frame interpolation plugin seems interesting, i wonder if it could be used as a better version of twixtor (like less warping and maybe smoother results)
since topaz version 2 or 3 i saw it as a better option over twixtor. just twixtor works faster. I have a separate render PC should i ever need to batch these things.
I started with 5, and I love the slow motion results. But do it by itself. Don't do any other processing with it. I do "motion deblur" and that seems alright.
I have watched over a dozen videos on this monitor and nobody-I repeat-nobody has shown the scaling effect that you show at 5:07. Bravo for this demonstration, it was extremely helpful. I have ordered this exact monitor and also the BenQ PD3420Q 34” 2K Ultrawide Monitor to compare, knowing that I shall return one of them. Great video mate! Cheers from Montreal, Canada!
10:24 you forgot to move the preview slider hence no changes but otherwise great tut! My favorite settings are 2k or 4k upscale/Artemis-MQ/Recover Detail set to 0 and I get a lovely result no matter how low the resolution is or how bad the quality is.
I'm lost, I bought a new computer and updated fcp to (10.8), I then returned the new Computer and started using my old computer with (10.6). Now the 2# FCP Library's I updated to (10.8) I can not access because they were updated with a newer version 10.8 of FCP. Can I get into them Libraries on my 10.6 FCP Computer ??
You could try the backups in the Users folder on your system disk. Select "GO" in main menu when in the Finder. select "Computer" > Macintosh HD > Users folder, > Movies folder, > Final Cut Backups folder.
Thanks for your video! If possible, could you also review the Nero AI Video Upscaler? I'm considering buying it and would like to know if it's worth it.
Interesting. There are so many Ai modelers coming out. It's hard to keep up. I''ll have a look at Nero, but keen to give Hedra a run first. www.hedra.com/app/characters

There is a LOT you didn't mention and should warn people about! After the upgrade I loaded an old project that was finished. Made a duplicate before I started. Nearly all mu music I used turned red (missing file) all the crossdisolve I used turned red (missing file) cross dissolve has dissapeard from 10.8!! All the text I used turns red, disappeared from 10.8 as-well!! So a finished project changed in another 7 hours work, to get it going again!
Wow. I need to check all of that. I only did a temporary update and reverted back to 10.7. So will look into 10.8 more closely tomorrow. Thanks for pointing it out.
@@VideoTutors After consulting the Apple helpdesk (thank you so much for the exelent help!) i found out it is VERY important that BEFORE you update to version 10.8, you should update the MacOS to version 17.5!!! After i did that i put back my old version of FCP, then ran the update 10.8 and now everything is back the way it should be! Not one "missing file" errors anymore.
Yes transitions can be added at both ends but you need the shorten the length of the compound clip after you add it to the timeline at least by the amount of timeline space that the transition takes up. If you intend to use a transition it pays the make the compound clip a little longer than you need. Or you maybe able to build the transition into the group of clips before you compound them. I’ll have test that as I’m not sure what will happen. You could try it though no harm done
I deleted preferences then fixed the destinations. I got the Master File Export Working, but I cannot "share a current frame." It says "Share Successful" then the single frame is not there. Its never failed before.
@@VideoTutors I tried that. Also Sharing Master File and choosing COMPUTER still crashes FCPX. I can share a master only in full resolution. I'm trying to figure out what changed on my computer.
Your guess is as good as anyone. Apple said end f Spring, but that has passed so either they are having issues or they are adding more than they said they would at the preview.
Of course I agree with you about having more subscribers and views but the important thing is that those I do have are getting real benefits from the videos. Thanks for your sub.
Topaz has great customer service. Contact them through the website, but once you have made a connection they will stick with you until they have the problem solved.
Will this work if I have footage from various sources, some of which are HDR from an iPhone , and others are SDR? I'm a fairly beginner video editor, really just editing home videos for my family, so we have a mix of iPhone, GoPro, as well as other cameras. Or do I need to keep doing what I've been doing and apply the HDR tools to just the clips that need it? Thanks!
