Welcome to WGR Garage RU-vid channel. Here you'll see Ryan build and modify everything from off-road daily drivers to boats and full tube chassis rock crawlers. Should be a little for everyone. This is a channel to kick back and enjoy the mistakes and success stories from your slightly above average garage mechanic. Lets have some fun!
Thanks!! We're probably just doing jeep stuff until fall because its got air conditioning haha. Got a big trip to New Mexico in October. I will try to post up if we're wheeling, on the WGR Garage Facebook page.
I want to build something similar. Full custom tube chassis (so that I'm not limited to factory bolt locations. 2 5 ton Rockwell axles with Ouverson 4.90 axle gears. Turbo gen 3 LS. 6L80 transmission. Atlas II or SCS 2-Speed transfer case. On 40 inch tires. With factory body panels so to the uniformed it just looks like a factory 4x4 vehicle, truck, or jeep. What do you think about my choice for drivetrain parts? As the vehicle might see some highway or daily driving use. Or do I need to change some things? Best regards for any and all advice, opinions, or answers.
Hey thank you!! I'm currently deployed for a bit longer, so hopefully starting a new project whenever I get back home. Glad to see another Jeeper enjoying the channel!!
They normally always are. But that's half the fun! Pretty stoked how this one turned out. Hopefully the owner can put the finishing touches on it and hit the trails!
It uses a 360 joint. It used to be made by a company out of Canada. I had those joints sitting on my shelf for years and the owner of the jeep mentioned wanting to do a 1 link. So on it went! Uses a 2-5/16 ball. "Links" are 1/4wall boxed tubing. Seems pretty solid to me!
@user-nr3cf2yb2x His transmission died 1 trip after this video, but it wheeled pretty good before that. I believe he's got it all back together with a newly installed cam in the 5.3.
@user-nr3cf2yb2x unfortunately, they stopped making them years ago. I have built something similar using 1, 1-1/4 hiem joint. I'll do some googling when I got some time and see if I can find something similar
@@momobadass Ya man! Wished we could have hung out at the end but my guys were pretty spent and my jeep was on its last leg. Finally got everything back to 95%. Even got the engine running decent again LOL. Thanks for watching!
We were on the trail at the same time haha. Was wondering what the story was with the YJ at the beginning of the trail. That's us at 15:40, I was in the red YJ and my buddy was in the green/black TJ6. Did the bear come through your camp at Buck Island that night? He stole our trash and tried to get into one of the coolers lol.
That's awesome!! Yep, broke his motor mount day 1. He jumped in my jeep and had a good time still. Yes! We had bears 3 nights in a row. They stole tortillas every night haha. Bears must like tacos. 🌮 I was ignorant and left my food container on the ground outside... closed. They opened it quietly and only took tortillas. The other 2 nights we had food inside of jeeps amd they jumped through a window both nights. Too funny. Hope yall had an awesome time! Thanks for checking out the video
@@WGR_Garage haha they certainly know how and where to look for food. They also like chicken teriyaki I guess since that's what they went for in our trash. Funny thing is when we were done with the trail we spent the night in South Lake Tahoe at a motel and I threw our trash into one of their outdoor trashcans in the parking lot- the next morning when we got up another bear had gone through the SAME trash that I had cleaned up on the trail and strown it out everywhere for a second time lol.
@HardEarnedBacon haha nobody warned us enough about the bears. Well if you ever make it out to Arkansas area, reach out to me! I'm deployed until May, but after that, back to the trails!
Dude, I totally enjoyed binge watching this playlist. Kinda wish I could find someone to help me build one. I would literally be using it for the same purpose, just hitting some forest roads and doing some camping.
I camped in that same spot last time I went with my brother in law 4ish years ago had a blast, we jumped off a cliff into the lake and I remember my face stinging cause I put my face down lol
Yep! Ebay shipped I believe the price was $194 a few years back. Definitely not a hardcore bumper, but definitely worth it. Came with the lights and d rings too
got a 2002 tracker with below 50 km on it been enjoying it and started thinking about lifting it up and putting bigger tires just out of curiosity how much money did you put on this tracker?
Heck yea! That's awesome. The total build including the vehicle cost was about $9500. Ended up selling it to a gentleman in town for 9K. He drives the heck out of it all over the place!
No additional plate! As long as your bumper has winch mount holes in it already, it's as easy and drop it on, and bolt it in! I did have to clearance the bumper just a little bit because the winch was pretty big. The winch has put in some serious winch time! I'm pretty dang happy with it!
I made the trex in 2022 for my 60th birthday towing my '92 Samurai on 36s with my RAM from Virginia to the Rubicon and did the trail solo for 2 days as my group bailed on me when I got there. I broke twice. A rear driveshaft and a sping centering pin. Both were trail fixes from great people out there to 'save my bacon'. I'd like to return but my wife now has a spinal cord injury and is in a wheelchair so we probably won't get back there but it was a 'bucket list event' Glad you got to go and get some good footage. I enjoyed watching.
Glad you checked it off your bucket list. At age 57 I’ve only been on it once about 15 years ago and I live in Northern California! Me, my wife, and my 1986 Jeep CJ7 made it through with no breakages. Drove the Jeep there and drove it home 2 days later. Went with a group from work. Fun trail.
@@fastdude2002 I had a stroke on February 1st and it'll be a year or more before I'm back into driving to my 4x4 on the trail. I'm recovering but it's hard
I love watching you work and build on tube chassis, going to build an 8 seater to take my whole family to the silver lake sand dunes ! Great fab work . .thank you !
