Hey Ya'll! We're Maddie and Chase; high-school sweethearts who started our channel as a lock-down project during our first year of medical school :) Chase is now a psychiatric resident and Maddie left medical school after second year to pursue her passion of nutrition. We're now just sharing our journey through life!
If you have specific video requests, please feel free to reach out to us via the comments section!
I just failed step, after that ecfmg they send me this email, they suspend my application to any step exam for a year do to anomalous performance, readiness to test and motivation to pass, I don't know what's wroung, I fail my test due to anxiety, I prepared well but I got so anxious tired during the exams and I run of time and leaving some questions without answering and some of multiple flags,,, so what should I do, I already start to study again, should I wait or this will be more reg flags to get match next year, or changing the whole pass to UK? Did some face same problem here?
Hey! I'm an M4 this year and taking the same rotation at the zoo next week! Thanks for explaining more about it, I can't wait to experience it myself. :)
AMAZING VIDEO . I AM DR.FIZ AND IMG. I AM ALSO RUN A RU-vid CHANNEL AS WELL AS OTHER SOCIAL PLATEFORM FOR USMLE .CAN YOU PLEASE DO WEBINAR WITH ME AND HELP PEOPLE IN USMLE JOURNEY?
Hi, Thank you for sharing your experiences I could really relate when you said that you do not want to just prescribe drug to a patient for something instead you want to go to the root cause And the same is true for me but i was never able to put it into words like you did I am a very curious person always reading something new / facts / information which was random spanning across all fields of study , but medicine has started to kill that inside me. When i entered med school things were great learning about the human body physiology , pathology but slowly over the clinical years and internship i realised i hated hospitals and due to constant exams and toxic culture there is no space left to do something else and it feels more of a sin to do something else which you could have used for studying. From the outside it seems medicine is for someone who is very curious and analytical in nature but practicing medicine and studying medicine academically are totally different I do not mean that medicine is not for people who are analytical and curious and others are not curious / analytical enough but specifically i mean that Its a lot different to practice than study and you do not become aware of that aspect until you are in the system.
Thanks for including the kitty. Made me feel better about life lol 😻. Thanks for the great advice! I'm also using just Pocket Prep and I have about 3 weeks to take it so this was really helpful. I have question though. Could you give me some idea of how many math questions are on the exam? And were there any pareticular concepts you would highlight to study? I've heard many people say vitamins/minerals and medications.
Congratulations, may you have a brilliant career 🥰❤️❤️❤️ I've been a dietitian in Brazil since 2004 and I'm going to take the CDR test in July here in FLORIDA. I'm very scared because English is my second language. I bought INMAN but I found the content very confusing to study. Did you only study with pocket prep? I'm having difficulty with the calculations because the measurements are different from what I was used to in my country. I really want to pass :) 🙌🏻
Just say "I haven't passed yet." Don't take it as a failure but see it as a learning opportunity. There is a lot of power in "Yet", you are telling yourself that you will get there and that your eyes and heart are still fixed on your goal.
I took the step 1 last month. I'm very disappointed, the exam is not even close to the practice material that the prep book sells online. The level of difficulty is like 5x or 6x.
Hi Maddie, I'm an IMG and also going through the same journey as you. I feel you a lot about all the step process. Thanks for posting this video. It took a lot courage to do this, but it helps for those who were just going through the same to have someone to discuss about this matter. I hope that you are doing better now. Wish can have a chance to talk with you personally. Blessings.
Hey man. I’m going into the army reserves as a 68D, surgical tech. I leave for basic in 3 weeks. My plan is to get my pre med right when I get back from AIT, and then med school to be a surgeon. Any suggestions or advice? Thanks.
Awesome question! So you would need to complete a dietetic internship and then get a verification statement in order to sit for the CDR exam. There’s a match process that you could go through, I believe, or an ISPP. I’m not super knowledgeable about this because I went through a coordinated program that had both the masters degree + the internship.
It absolutely can, and for many it does. For me personally, I did that go down that path, so I just received the base pay with no incentives. With this I have the shortest contract possible for an officer (6 + 2 years).
Hey can you do an update on your residency experience so far? Please and thank you ❤ I passed step 2, I’m in interview season, and I’m excited for my journey. If you don’t mind could you also do a day in the life and things you’d recommend doing before starting intern year?
I remember watching your channel when you got accepted to med school. That's so cool to see you're in residency now. I'm currently in my first year :) you're an inspiration!
Hello. Is it true that I have to find my first client myself with Kickoff? And do I have to find my own leads/clients or will Kickoff help with that. I’m new to personal training
They say that they will send you leads but they prefer that you find your own. The more you get on your own, the more likely that Kickoff will send you a lead.
So sorry for the delay! Yes, you have to find your own clients at the beginning during your “intro period.” I can’t remember how many need to sign up, it’s just a couple I think. After you’ve shown you can go through the motions with your own clients, they will start sending you clients. It’s a slow trickle at the beginning and I feel like it comes in waves.
Hi I know this video was made a while ago! I was just wondering if you knew what kind of contract work Kickoff is? I’m applying for a house loan and I’m looking for a 24 month contract job. I started my profile with Kickoff but haven’t found an answer to this one.
I’m following the same path as you. Currently a Maryland NG and applying to med schools. Please any useful tips that you think might make my application standout/competitive as service member and a non trad student? Your response would greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey, good luck during your application season! I think that if you just mentioned it in your application, that will be enough. I would only included on your personal statement if it was a very significant part of your life. The real substance will come when you are interviewing and the interviewer ask you about it. Know how to answer the question why you joined, how long are you gonna be in the military, etc. I would really play up the desire to serve and your enjoyment of having the opportunity to work with the community, etc.… Hope this helps!
You are a smart person who got accepted to a medical school. This means you will be successful of anything you decide to do in your life. Medicine or any other career you will always shine. Good luck with any pattern you chose in your life🙏🙏🙏
Chase I have a few questions maybe you could help? 1. Did you join the army with a 4 year degree? 2. I have a 2 year degree and I'm working on my 4 year degree now with intentions of joining the air guard very soon...I would like to get into law school after my bachelors how did you manage to be a full time med student if you make less than 3k a month from the guard? I've heard you only make up to 200 per drill weekend.
Hey! 1. Yes I joined after undergrad 2. I took out student loans. They give you more than the cost of school in order to live on them. I got paid ~$500 a month for a base pay as a 2LT
i realize this video is a year old, and I should probably watch your newer videos before suggesting anything to you, but I thought I would share my "back up plan" if I fail step1 in a few weeks. I was thinking of still completing the MD and then instead of trying to match I was going to try and pursue some kind of MSL/director position with either industry or hedge funds. Since i already have my pharmD, i am under the assumption that the MD-pharmD has a lot of unique usefulness in the industry clinical trial world, only problem is I actually hate doing research myself... but that was more from undergrad and pharmacy school experiences. I was honestly leaning more towards soliciting some kind of internship/consulting with hedge funds, or ironically going back and taking some post bac classes to study finance. I actually have been really into the clinical trial stock market side of things and have built up somewhat of a portfolio of analysis and clinical trial FDA predictions which has somehow basically paid for all of my schooling so far. One of the most famous investors now days is this.... "neuro atypical" guy called michael burry who hated being an MD and eventually quit to do investment hedge fund stuff. somehow he predicted the 2008 financial crisis and made billions off of the big banks... theres a movie about it called the big short. anyways I dont think im the next michael burry but i thought i would point out that some people basically just get the MD title for credibility and never do anything in medicine. I have another friend who dropped out during their intern year and started a vitamin company and has made more money doing that than they likely ever would of made in medicine as a hospitalist... theres another youtuber who i think runs the most popular firearms related channel who basically dropped out during their 4th year of medschool too lol. best of luck to you, they tell us this whole time what we need to do and when we take some other path it feels like we are messing everything up.... and maybe sometimes thats true but its not absolute.
@@MaddiexChase great I am a med student at Turkey, and I am taking step1 this June. I want to work in pharma industry in US,do you think as a medical student I could meet the requirements? Are there people in med school thinking about careers in pharma you know? thank you for time.
