I saw Space Pirate Captain Harlock back in 1978 But missed the last two episodes because the family went on vacation. But Now, I have seen it when it was being shown on Pluto TV.
that and the battles in the remake are so much better due to almost 40 years in amination advances... i mean come on.. what Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers fan DOESNT watch the ORIGNAL BFG get fired at least once a week.. just because
I watched the original as a 10 and 11 year old when it first aired in 1979 and 1980, and I have the original on DVD because it is so good. But 2199 is even better, keeping almost all elements of the original plot but reworking it to make it tighter and more compelling. This reboot shows how it should be done, with people who love the original and stay true to the spirit of the original.
Thank you for the update~ The Leiji Matsumoto video is going to be epic, Can't wait to see more of his art style, Glad that you haven't set any deadlines to push you into the project, greatness takes time especially when there's a lot of stuff to go through The OG channel mascot was always a little out of left field to me but it's something I always notice the channel by, That said I'm confident you'll find a great new face for the channel Thank you for all your hard work, Please keep it up at your own pace m(_ _)m I hope your having a lovely day, Have a wonderful week, Be safe and Take care out there wherever you are (^=W=^)7
yey i got 33 , that slightly better thani usually do in current anime:P although i must say i am not big quiz person, most of those anime i simply watched :]
There we go the update video is finally here. Sorry it took a bit, I ended up getting sick and didn't really feel like recording during that. But yeah, today we're just chatting a bit about what's happened and what's gonna happen in the future. You can join my discord here: discord.gg/TNabRttzH4 Follow me on twitter: x.com/ToriRLR
I appreciate that. The problem with creating these videos is that I always need to find 3 anime of varying popularity, from 4 different decades, that I also think are good enough that I would recommend people check them out. Because of that this series was never really meant to last that long. I might go back to it at some point, but for now I don't really have anything more planned for this series
This series was on our TV back then (Germany) and I really loved it. These drawings, this story, just great! I don't even remember how old I was back then, but after all these years I still have the theme song in my head, which actually came in Japanese. Nothing against Mila Superstar and co, but Queen Millennia was simply incredibly beautiful. and I'm glad that other people actually remember this series. At times I was afraid I had imagined her XD
"i didnt watch all of part 4" *minutes later* "and part 5 is my favorite of the modern lupin" you lost all credibility with that condrtiction like cmon man. if you didnt finnish all the modern seris why would you put one above another. aswell as kinda just vaugly putting out there that part 3 is considered the weakest and all you really said was its lack of consitant animation, sorta a weak part of the video wish there was more to discuss why fans didnt resonate with it for it truly to be the weak link in the series. also kinda seperating the manga as its own section in the begining instead of presenting it in tandum with the anime release and how the anime and mangas perhaps influenced perception of each other seems a miss in a video about the history/evoultion of this stuff.
I don't see that as much of a contradiction honestly. Yes I said Part 5 was my favorite of the modern Lupins. But that's kind of it. It's MY favorite of the modern Lupins. Now if I would have said it's THE BEST of the modern Lupins and completely disregarded Part 4 I would agree. 2nd point I think is fair criticism. I'll keep that in mind. 3rd point as well. Definitely would work going with that angle as well if the point is to constantly compare it to the manga.
I really don't know about CG, even with things like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Appleseed where CG thematically makes sense with the cyborgs and VR and even some of the manga being made using CG, and it being top notch CG at that, still i felt it took me out of the story. So what is there to say about badly made CG? But yeah Lupin and Cat's Eye is just obvious, why didn't this happen decades ago? My fav crossover isn't even a full crossover, its a long referential scene in a movie: when in Rebuild of Evangelion Shinji saves Rei, that whole scene is a frame-for-frame remake of a scene in Revolutionary Girl Utena, that calls back to EVA in its own way! i was so happy to see two of my fav shows play together like that! Funny how noone talks about it though. Nice video, you really are the go-to guy for all things Lupin!
CG is always a tough sell in anime just because you still mostly think 2D when thinking of Japanese cartoons. But as long as the CG is good like in Lupin III The First, I don't really mind it. Yeah with how much people like to talk about, dissect and analyze everything about EVA I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talk about that.
Thank you for the awesome video~ They waited so long to make this crossover but it seems it wasn't quite long enough, Very much nice to see the two sets of characters working together but there was certainly room to improve on the story (I can't complain about the animation since it does have it's quirks even though it isn't my cup of tea) Glad to see you making more Lupin content 🙏 Thank you for all your hard work, Please keep it up m(_ _)m I hope your having a lovely day, Have a wonderful week, Be safe and Take care out there wherever you are (^=W=^)7 And you too fellow viewer~
I always enjoy talking about more Lupin stuff. Definitely have some more lupin related video ideas stored in the bank, so don't expect this to be the last time either
So Lupin and Cat's Eye is kind of a dream crossover for me personally. But what about you guys? Do you have any anime crossovers that you'd love to see? Tell me in the comments! Also if you wanna be able to get in touch with me, or just be updated on what I'm doing/ what I'm working on/ when I'm uploading a new video. You can join my discord or follow me on twitter. Links to both of those are in the video description
What most of the supporters for Zenitsu are saying in his defense is “that’s how he’s written read the manga.” A shitty written character is still a shitty character even with the terrible backstory
Thanks you your video, I finally found the anime I was looking for, a recently unlocked memory from my childhood I couldn't put a finger on, as the only things I remembered were a cool short-haired woman & an episode in a court. I found you, Those Who Hunt Elves!
Anne of Green Gables is anime done so fluidly it looks like it was animated recently! It has the iconic Studio Ghibli style in its character designs. Also known as Akage no Anne, it was also one of the most moving stories I've ever seen or heard. I was hooked when Annne found out that the elderly couple intended to adopt a boy, and she asks, "You don't want me?" I cried. It is nearly perfect. Please watch this anime.
Hi there! Idk if in 4 years you've watched something more that made into your top 1 anime or manga, if nope, i'm like you, Aria is my favorite show. I really loved your video and i cried watching it, Aria really makes me sensitive and it has absolutely changed my life for better. Thank you so much for sharing this 🫶🫂
@@AnimeTopScholar it became my number 1 on 2022 and it seems really difficult to loose that spot. I've to watch Mushishi tho cause it seems amazing too, but i see it really hard becoming better than Aria
5:23 - I will admit that Matsumoto-sensi's character design is like nothing in anime. His art is one of a kind. I never had an issue with his designs, since I grew up watching Star Blazers, getting used to his style, so that when I moved onto Robotech, it was just another art style like any other.
*Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t read the manga’s ending* My biggest problem with Zenitsu is that Demon Slayer does almost _nothing_ with him. When he first came into the picture, I initially thought, “Oh I see what they’re doing here. He’s a coward that will slowly learn to become stronger and braver.” Cliche, but fine with me. And yeah, he does end up stronger by the end, but it’s written terribly. For starters, the gimmick of him only battling when he’s asleep was a stupid idea. I can deal with him only knowing one form of Thunder Breathing, as an example of the-man-who-has-practiced-one-kick-10,000-times. We could see him deal with the struggle of only knowing one form, and finding new and creative ways to use it, and it could compliment him growing as a person and becoming more courageous. However, the sleep-fighting thing is what hampers this. He spends most of his time screaming or hitting on Nezuko, and whenever he is actually being useful in a fight, he’s unconscious, and he doesn’t remember anything when he wakes up. Because of this, we don’t get to see him grow as a character. He never learns anything from his fights, and the times when he develops his form in new ways all kinda just… happen. There’s nothing leading up to him strengthening or altering his technique. Zenitsu remains the same person throughout almost the entire story. Because of all that, when he finally does become stronger in the Infinity Castle, to the point where he creates a 7th form of Thunder Breathing, it doesn’t feel earned. He hasn’t had a proper arc where he learned anything to get to that point. He’s just suddenly braver and stronger because the plot says so.
The movie I saw had terrible dubbing. I was not aware that this series was 113 episodes! Whew. I used to play an arcade videogame using foottage from this series. I msy have to watch all 113 episodes one day.
#1 Laputa: castle in the sky simply as I'm a simple minded cheese poppin 80's action scifi flick dweeb. I also liked Spriggan and I think its has the coolest kid villain name ever, Colonel McDougal.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Ghibli productions you've seen~ There's a few in here I haven't seen but for the most part I totally agree with your ratings, I also learned some good facts too~ Thank you for all your hard work, You did a brilliant job with the edit m(_ _)m I hope your having a lovely day, Have a wonderful week, Be safe and Take care out there wherever you are (^=W=^)7 And you too fellow viewer~
For me, I liked Princess Mononoke, Princess Kaguya, and Only Yesterday most. However, I could not stand My neighbour Totoro. For me it was insufferable. Not to mention, as average as I find Ghibli films, I much prefer his earlier work in WMT series.
WMT stuff is an absolute gem and something I want to explore a lot more. I can definitely see why someone wouldn't like Totoro. For me tho it's just an absolute vibe. Growing up in the countryside, there's parts of that movie that resonates with me a lot
@@AnimeTopScholar which ones have you seen? Even though it's technically not a WMT anime, Nobody's Boy: Remi is my absolute favourite. Romeo's Blue Skies, Anne of Green Gables, Les Misérables, 3000 Leagues in Search For Mother, Swiss Family Robinson are my other top dogs. Treasure island is not one either, but very similar like Remi. They all just have so much feelings, and an atmosphere you just don't find nowadays.
@@archangelarielle262 For now I've only really watched Anne of Green Gables and Moomin (tho Moomin was pre WMT). But I've got Remi, Heidi and Dog of Flanders on my list of things to watch. I'm also gonna be watching Remi for the podcast in the not too distant future
