The mechanical signal box is fascinating as it’s the real deal, the economy is in action here, the country is functioning partly due to this activity, impressive
The steam locomotive is actually smoother in action than it outwardly suggests, the pistons overlap giving a treadle like action, one piston is perhaps a third of it’s way in its stroke while the other piston is at the end of its stroke for instance and they are partly moving in the same direction for some their movement, giving a smooth action which is belied by the puffing and gasping and chugging etc, but in actual fact there’s grace in the action of its motion and pistons
By leaning into the imagination one can envisage England in the fifties operating steam locomotives on BR, inside cylinder 4 4 0’s were still prolific then in my area of the south east of London, D1 E1 Maunsell rebuilds etc with their large driving wheels
Were the first couple of mins with the SGS 0-6-0 captured on the Khyber Pass railway. I have seen pictures but never a video of this locomotive on the stretch.
Pure Gold 💝 Old Time Is Golden Time... That Time India Is So Much Beautiful... Punjab Is Pure that time... Now everything changed... In the name of Development lakhs of trees cut.. I am from the UK and i shot and edited the video. I visited a number of times to visit the railways and have some more to edit from a visit in 1996 that i will do this winter. More video is on my u tube channel. Thks for watching
I am so grateful to the team which has preserved this for us to cherish. It is a pity that none of these beautiful machines exist in working condition today. Most have been scrapped. Some remaining as mute displays. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Have watched this wonderful video earlier too but could not resist again. My last steam engine hauled train was from Hyd to Bidar in 1994. My father being in Railways, i have always loved trains and would watch them in their splendour (like Ajanta Express) from our quarters when my father was posted in the then Aurangabad rail station! Am a senior citizen now and still love trains very much. The transition from steam to diesel to electric has been experienced by our generation. We are blessed indeed! Best wishes from Hyderabad!
