100lb mason, one of the best quality loop lines we use on our snares, and they are refurbish-able in hot water to retain its springiness after a session
OK, his was last year but it just came up. I used SPAM and MAC last season and was skunked. This was at the pier though. I did really well at Ocean with just my normal Squid for bait.

Never let your deckhand toss your salmon carcass if filleting it on the boat. I do my own at hm then toss carcass & head in the freezer till crab season. Chunk the head up small enough to get into your snare along with some squid chunks. I suppose pro cure could be added as a scent if its really slow but I say find out 1st. I got 7 or 8 in no time last beach trip & on a boat I never keep females but you can keep females as a recreational fisherman in Ca. which surprised me.
Night shift ,when you sign up it could go very good or very bad. Nice vid and great safety advice . Saw you on the pier a few weeks ago maybe this was why LoL. All in all good to be on the water than at work.

Hey bud thanks for your question, an 8-9pm would be fine with it but it depends on the surf and currents. I don’t have any experience with the 10ft penn 8k so I wouldn’t want to go over 11oz as it may snap on you. I use a cheap Daiwa beef stick $50 and I am able to cast up to 14oz without the rod snapping, and I’ve snapped about 7 rods last year lol but I recommend Daiwa beef stick 12ft and ugly stik to cast heavier weights if needed. So your 10ft penn 8k may be the best just for the pier My 2c
