Wow, I don't even know how I got here but yes I remember this disaster all too well. I will never forget this experience! And at the same how crazy it is that I end up here discovering this video on the 30th anniversary month, as well as discovering that I'm in this video at 15:20..The little 13 year old boy getting water from the red cross station that was on Mercer university shoppes plaza where T.J. Max used to be..SMGDH..Me and my dad were there back and forth getting truck loads of water for our family members and neighbors. I didn't have the slightest clue I had been caught on film. This is strange, humbling, and kinda cool all at the same time..
The 30th Anniversary has brought me here to see in full detail of what has happened not just in Albany, Georgia but to our surrounding Counties (Americus, Newton, Lee, Camilla, etc.). This Flood of '94 has impacted Albany to the fullest. A loss of manufacturing, schools, retail, neighborhoods, and the people has today (July 6, 2024) put Albany on the poverty list. I'm most upset with Albany's City/County Leaders for NOT putting the Federal Government Grants that were distributed out to help our City/Community. The Southside, South Central, and partial of the Eastside in town has went extremely lacking in redevelopment/rebuilding. The Airport area alone should have been redeveloped with at least two hotels and extended the Liberty Expressway to connect (exit) there onward to met up with the Dawson Road/Lee County roadway going west of 520/82 west towards Columbus, Georgia. Anyway, its been 30 years today from the devastating time in Albany, Georgia and it were a good thing that it took place during our very HOT summers here ... The Flood of '94, Albany, Georgia ... NEVER FORGET indeed! My sincerest thanks and gratitude to the DHR, Emergency Management, Red Cross, Federal/State Government, and all and any other help assistance that were available during those horrific times ... I, THANK YOU all again - GOD BLESS!!! 🌟💯🙏🏿😔🙂
The people that say "Oh crap, here comes the Green Man" need to see this clip. I feel that I can guarantee you that Daniel and his sons won't EVER mutter those words!! GREAT job guys.......
@@chino4064 If you're serious about Military. I'd suggest a job where you can work less hours than being an MP. Work on getting a degree. If I could do it all over I would've finished college before enlisting. Regardless, do your research and really decide that military is the right path for you. You lose alot of freedoms but you gain experience.
My dad was part of this effort. Watching him load up all his DNR gear and drive off with his john boat in the middle of all the flooding is something I'll never forget. Its a big reason I joined the GSDF to do my part. Big thank you to all the State LEOs that work so hard every day across this state. Y'all step up every time needed no matter the cost. Lt. Holman should be reprimanded for his conduct with the magnet fisherman who found unexploded ordinances. They did a good deed and you wrote them 3 tickets each. He is a disgrace to your department. To start the whole interaction as confrontational when the military police already had jurisdiction and the situation under control. I hope they sue the shit out of your department and the Lt. Looses his qualified immunity. I hope your dispatch is flooded with complaints. He should not have become a police officer. His lack of sex at home should not affect his job.
We have watched this video 5 times since Little River Marina recommended it before we rented our pontoon boat on June 25, 2022. It's been very helpful. The Desmonds
I was born on July 8th, 1994 in Albany, Ga. I’ve always been referred to as a “flood baby”. I always read or seen pictures of the flood, but never video like this. Incredible.
