What helps me with reading the bible is: asking the Holy Spirit for help with understanding, bible plans and group bible studies. I also always keep in the back of my mind that as humans that there are some concepts that we won't ever be able to comprehend!! Love the pod - sad that I missed watching this live --> #roadto100k !!

Respectfully.. everyone chooses their faith via their upbringing.. environment.. lifestyle choices & spiritual direction.. Raised Christian & left for Islam as there are so many things that contradict within the actual bible - baring in mind if you look at the origins of the book it came hundreds of years after Jesus (pbuh) left this earth.. From when kings & “chosen” men had the freedom and right to change the book by adding and removing scriptures to fit their own narrative best believe it’s not the word of God (in my opinion) look into actually doing research 🔬 yourself without a clouded mind and seek truth as we’re all here for 60 70+ years if we’re fortunate enough to be blessed with a long life.. We’ll spend not decades but thousands of years in the grave before the day of judgement & that’s whether you believe it or not… Each to their own as I believe we’re all brothers & sisters in humanity but follow a doctrine not for the sake of a people or to be accepted per sé but for the sake of truth! Wishing all of us true guidance & peace ✌🏿insha’Allah 💜🫡
Context is need in understanding vain. It simply means to not to misuse the name of God. Back in the days to prove a point in the court of law you will swear by Gods name. As with most professions law, accounting, medical…your not meant to bring your body into disrepute. Same thing But keeping the Sabbath is massively overlooked as somehow Sunday is regarded as Sabbath 😂..
also in the old testament they had to kill unblemished (perfect without any marks etc) lamb in order to be forgiven by God hence why Jesus is the lamb and only he was sinless (in order to be unblemished) and he could only be sinless bcos He is God. So humans sin innately and we cannot stop sinning in our own strength and that’s why we have the Holy Spirit our helper that lives within us who convicts us of sin and helps us not live in sin and when we do sin and fall short we repent and keep it moving bcos the end goal is to live as Christ did in terms of how he had a close relationship with God and was set apart in how he manoeuvred and interacted with people in the new testament and He pointed people back to God.
