Gutted to hear you’re not heading to Nipika but I completely understand and agree with you. Health has to come first. I just posted your video from last time on my Facebook today saying how much I was looking forward to seeing you. I’ll be back on 2026 so hope to see you both there then! Heal up and come back even stronger. You’ll be missed at the event.

Hey buddy, that was a great video but I’m not gonna lie, your health situation is really worrying. I can hear the shortness in your breath and it makes me think I could actually kick your ass on a ride, which is pretty f’d up. The decision to cancel your participation in the Rocky Royal only underscores the impact Covid has had on your year. All I can say is get better soon. In the meantime, the videography continues to improve. Sure, you’re no prize, but who doesn’t like seeing video of Catherine? Ride on…

@@PiquePictures Dude, seriously, I think you need more coffee in your life. Not that poncy shit they sell in over-priced coffee bars, but the real stuff. Stuff you’ll only find on a shelf in Walmart or Real Canadian Superstore. Caffeine that will get your frickin’ nerve ends jangling. Let me know if that’s a corridor you want to go down. I’m here for you.

A saturation level (SPO2) of 92% is low, even for someone just walking around. Even 95% is low for strenuous exercise like biking. Good decision to skip the event to avoid irritating your lungs. I always enjoy your videos and they make me want to get a gravel bike just to ride in the places you show.

I am so sorry that you had such bad luck as to get sick so close to the event you had planned to do. Especially when it involved an event as tough as this one! I had never heard of the event until your program and the description of the course on the website is brutal, albeit also beautiful (strangely, a combination often seen together when I think of it). The days to follow day one looked hellish! I wish you a speedy and complete recovery. Also, thanks for again showing us the reality and truth of taking on these epic events. Some times things go well with these things but often there are surprises to be found, some of which make completing the event impossible. In my opinion, you should never be hard of yourself for not completing an event. The only time that feeling is appropriate is if you didn't give it your best try. In my opinion, you did more than that! It is often just as hard to be see your partner through these types of struggles. Especially when you have inside medical knowledge. What your program has given me is an appreciation of the widespread possibilities that gravel biking provides, along with a healthy dose of humour. Thanks for going to the lengths that both of you do in supplying that. I hope that you feel better soon. True strength is often best measured by the willingness to get up again once you've been knocked down. Both of you strike me as being extremely resilient. All the best.

Love cycling first and foremost. Thanks for the video. It’s great that there’s trails with unmotorized vehicles as I agree it’s the best and safest way to ride. The concerning part is that we aren’t building cycling paths we are taking up roads. I strongly disagree with shared roads, it’s insanely unsafe and contributes to pollution the opposite of two key factors in having bike trails and lanes. Proper, purpose built trails is the way forward, the other will only create conflict. Finally, the Japanese camp is not something I am ashamed of as a Canadian, it happened all over the world, the Japanese attacked and such is humanity. I am embarrassed as a human that we are so selfish, greedy and violent and most of us are completely unaccountable and ignorant that it includes each and every one of us. We like to point fingers. Every race in history has suffered in some way no more, no less its history and human nature. We have the potential to be this worlds protectors but we continually chose destroyers as a species.
