Im a guy from Long Island who likes to keep busy. Taking and posting video on Y/T is just another way to do that. For the past couple of years, I post video, of my projects. It used to be motorcycles, but since building a boat from plans I bought online, I have been into boats and vintage outboards. To the left of this text you'll find a "featured" video. It's usually an update of my current project. Below that you'll find a list of videos, that more or less, chronical the steps it took to get to this point. (the featured video). Directly below, the text you are reading right now, you will find a list of my "playlists". These are all of my "uploaded videos" (my videos), and my "favorites" (other peoples videos), divided into a few categories such as "Motorcycles Videos", and "Boat Videos" and "Cool Tunes" Thanks for stopping by my channel.
i acquired this motor about two years ago hooked up to a 1961 starcraft. The seller showed me how to start the boat but now I can’t remember worth a shit, anyone have any tips
I gotta build me one of these. Are you building the flying saucer or the zip? I believe they are the same style boat, just that the zip is a little bigger?
Got a jhonson 75hp 1961 electromatic, started it for the first time in who knows how much years and both cylinders left side spark plugs came out with water, feelsbadman. Hopefully its just the head gasket but knowing there is a crack in the water hose I bet they overheated it and probably both cylinders aint going to look pretty, carburator seems nice but the fuel pump is definetly not working. Its missing pretty much the entire electrical system not counting distributor and stator but hopefully if I can fix the water on the cylinders and the magneto gives power im probably going to use a voltage rectifier regulator from more modern jhonsons to hopefully charge the battery. Good video dude gave me a bit of an idea what the issue may be. That cylinder wall does not look good but it all depends on how deep they are, if its just superficial you could fix it with sandpaper or a tool for that matter also if the "chrome" material was removed by the piston you pretty much need another block or get it to a shop to fix the cylinder on top of getting a new piston and with rings.
All Mercury A models were 59s. The A stood for anniversary, and it was Mercury's 25th. They were also all white. The "many colors to choose from" thing lasted through the 58s.
sorry to tell you but that transom repair is total useless.. when doing the transom you need to get a complete transom, not patches , its not strong enough by a long way... you should of taken the top off and put in a complete transom, its not as hard to do as you might think... yours might seem ok, but when going over a wave dont be surprised if your motor falls off and the boat sinks.. it dont matter what thickness you attach, your only attaching to stuff that is not good.... you need t ogo from left side of boat to right side. top to bottom and glass it in..... far too many people will say its fine, but they realy do not understand the stress on the transom..... you should be able to attach a plate to the back with just 2 simple bolts and lift the boat up and shake it on a fork lift. that is how strong the transom needs to be... transom is strongest part of the boat, as every bit of power has to go through it... lifting the top off is a 3 hour job, putting it back on about 2 hours to complete it.. cutting the transom boards and laying down the glass allow a complete day... once done your looking at around 40 years before needs doing again.
What a fantastic boat. My teen years were the ‘70’s and I remember vacationing on the Gulf of Mexico every summer with my family, and boats like this were new and I dreamed I’d one day have one. Approaching retirement age now so I think it’s about damn well time. This Catalina 25 is exactly the size I’d like to find, do a few updates to the electronics and plumbing to make it a comfortable weekender for the wife and I, but maintain the period asthetics.
Yo, ten years later and I have damn near the same model bike and I plan on doing something similar. Beautiful little bike my dude, can't wait for mine to be road Worthy again. Cheers
Bringing back the childhood memories... My grandparents had a 1960 75 hp Johnson on the back of a mahogany boat built by Grenelle boatworks in Toronto. They had that boat for over 20 years in the 1960s and 70s on a large lake in Haliburton Ontario. That motor had such a distinct sound that as I child I could tell when it was coming up the lake.... nice to see this video...thanks

I just bought a re-built mark 55 thunderbolt four mercury for an old yellow jacket. The props 5' too short. Anyone know if there are extension kits out there for a motor this old? I haven't been able to find one, yet.
Please show how you did the conversion.I'm in the process of doing this to my outboard and I think it would help myself and others if you would show specifics. Thanks!
