@@AlexSmith-dz5gg yeah I don't think they've got any big perch in the match lake anymore, there's a 4lber knocking about in the other lake though which would be lovely
@@SnaggedOnFish best way. You do the right thing. Sometimes rules can be conflicting there. My family is Dutch and I fish there regularly and I’ve seen this situation a lot especially when I comes to wildlife rules there. No doubt the guy in the boat is right, but as you found their English can be blunt 😂. It’s not made to cause offence it’s just the way they translate there
@@SouthWestCarpHunter to be honest, the swim had stopped doing bites anyway so gave us a natural nudge to the next few places and we went on to catch some special ones!
@@SnaggedOnFish I shouldn’t say the music is horrendous. Just save it for like b roll or less of it. I don’t think it stopped for the first 5-6 minutes. Maybe longer In my opinion, it distracts from the good content. But it’s your channel and I’m gonna watch either way
@@danielmorris3446 believe it or not, at sparsholt I did wader safety training. You learn how to swim with waders on. It's perfectly safe, especially with a life jacket!
@@SnaggedOnFish if u fall in water u gotta put ur legs up and they wil have air in em makin u float ive seen some videos testing the safety of it. and if it does go wrong u can unclip em in like 2 secs
Cheers Barry! Ooo good luck! It's quite silty in most parts of the lake, there's some firmer spots but I'd prep for a siltier set up. Had quite a few bites on hemp with a pop up over the top. Enjoy!
Is that Kempisch Kanaal ?! You can tell me in private if you want, i have many episodes recorded in Belgium, and i am looking for new locations to get on camera. Thx in Advance!
I agree that I might persuade the odd person to go check it out but I rarely name any places I go to. I think the real problem is the multi million pound companies that go there and name the places
ive got to try this kind of fishing on my local river mole guys!!!! great video!!! clever video editing. you know im so sick of match fishing now, and taking more stuff than i take on holiuday 😅honest guys its nuts! and on top love to fish for fun again. not competition. have you any recommendation on a GOOD ROD that will last. im kinda buy once. or youll end up spending more. and a good decent reel or two. theres quite a good head of perch and chub in the mole, but BIG pike too. is there a one rod do ALL. or is it a case of two rods. video actually showed fishing with mates is something i miss. with a liitle bit of gear. rather than literally having TO BUY A VAN 😂for the match fishing days. any help would be great. lovely video!!!!!!!!
Hello Brian! Thanks for the kind words, fishing with mates is what it's all about! As for rods, there isn't 1 rod that will do it for all venues and situations but there is probably 1 rod that will suit the local river near you. A 1-10g rod is perfect for very light fishing on smaller stillwater or canals where you don't have to cast far. 10-30g can still be used on smaller waters but helps you to cast further. They would also be better for a medium flow river. That's what size rods we used in this video as we used jig heads ranging from 10-16g. Then over 30g rods would be your heavy set up for casting bigger lures, fishing fast flowing rivers. Then for end tackle I use a braided mainline to feel the bites better. If your using 1-30g jigs then I'd be using a 6-10kg breaking strain with the thinest diameter possible. Then above 30g I'd used 13kg plus depending on weight of bait. Then a fluorocarbon leader of 6-8lb for lighter set ups and 8-12lb maybe even 15-20lb for heavier set ups or snaggy venues. If fishing for pike or there are pike in your venue then always use a trace! Online you'll find guides for jig head hook sizes to match the size of bait you want to use. Hope this helps! And good luck!
It definately would seem like it, but this lake is practically unfished and has lots of 5-10lb carp you need to feed off. Thi gives time for the bigguns to find it. In normal circumstances, you are 100% right haha
@@SnaggedOnFish Thank you! If you don't mind me telling, do you usually fish over depth, and if so how much roughly? I am new to perch fishing, so trying to understand the tactics a little better 🙏
@fishandchill. so I tend to adapt to how the perch are feeding. If they are feeding aggressively and you are getting 1 bite to 1 hooked ratio then I'll go overdepth by an inch or two, if you keep getting false bites where they aren't feeding as hard then I'll go maybe 5 inches overdepth. You just have to be careful not to give them too much or they can get deep hooked.
